I am looking to buy a used 2011 RZ2, but the owner does not know which ballast was installed (base surf or pro). How can I figure that out by inspecting it? What can I look for to confirm? I see it only has a single large factory installed Sac in the Bow, but beyond that... I do not know.

From what I have understood and looking at the current ballast options - see link:
http://www.tige.com/features/ballast-options
The base option only has the underfloor hard tanks, does not have the bags above floor in the rear compartments
The surf option adds the rear bags
The pro option divides the front up into to different sacs so you can add weight side specific to the front.
I am not 100% sure, but this has been my basic understanding. I am guessing that someone that knows more will chime in to verify.
Good Luck on your boat search"I think I am pretty smart for an idiot"

Dandy is right. Basic would have a 400 lb U shaped sac up front and just 2 250 lb underfloor hard tanks in the back. When you looked in the back locker you would just see a carpeted floor. If its surf you'd still have the 400 lb U up front, but now you would have 350 lb sacs(bags) above the floor in the rear lockers. You will see them either on the floor or in a "pouch" that velcro's them to the outside wall of the locker when not in use. With the pro the rear is the same(250 underfloor tank/ 350 lb above floor sac) but you now get 2 400 lb sacs in the bow for a total of 800 lbs instead of the single 400 lb U shaped sac. It won't be hard to tell if you have the basic, but is harder to tell the difference between surf and pro without crawling around up front. Surf is by far the most common.
