No ****, what displaces the water when you have a check valve in the vent line like you said to install. Pumps aren't going to pump very good when drawing a vacuum.

Unless Tige has changed the plumbing, the tank has its own vent line. With the c/v placed in the sac's vent line, there will be no vacuum drawn in the hard tank.

I ended up ordering the hose off of wake makers and 4 check valves for the fill lines. I cross vented and drained the rear sacks and installed check valves in the fill lines. I ended up putting in a barb fitting on the drain lines and just went straight off of the y fitting for the vent. It was no problem once I removed the rear cover panels. Two issues that I had with the installation was there there is a small circuit breaker that is installed above the port side through ports (for anyone that is doing this to their boat MOVE THE CIRCUIT BREAKER) obviously I had issues when I got on the water. Second issue was the the port side trim panel, I Had to take a skill saw and trim the corner off to allow the panel to sit in its natural position. To insure that the sharp plastic edge didn't cut or score any of the hoses I filed it down with a file and it worked out great. Im not sure how you guys mounted the hoses across the back of the boat but I took off the black plastic trim panel over the motor and drilled a series of holes so I could put the tie wraps through and hide the hose behind the panel.

I ended up doing the cross vent and drain and I put check valves in all 4 fill lines. I had zero issues and couldn't be happier!

+1. Had the exact same issue in my RZ2.

Also, be sure to install the check valve between the pump and the Y that splits the fill lines to the sac and the hard tank. I didn't know about the split and installed mine up near where the fill line enters the sac and still had passive draining through the fill line. I believe that's because it was draining out of the hard tank fill line. I just recently had the check valve moved to between the pump and the Y, and I plan to test it in the next couple of weeks. Hoping that does the trick.

I plan to do this to my Z1 in a couple of weeks. Where did you get the 1 1/8" barb fittings to extend the drain and vent lines over? Wakemakers only has 1". Can you find them at local hardware stores?

I really like using qwik-lok fittings on everything. You might try quick locks from here, and they come in 1-1/8in sizes. Makes maintenance and troubleshooting a breeze when you have qwik-loks on everything.

Thanks. I use those on all of my bags, but thought a barb x barb connection would be cheaper and more solid to extend the vents and drains to the opposite sides. This will work though, just thought 1-1/8" barb fittings would be easier to find since the hose is readily available.

What year is your Z1? The 1st gen Z1 used .75" hose and the 2nd gen (current) uses 1" i believe.

I have found 1-1/4" barb x barb fittings online for $1.50 each. I may go this route and heat the hose to go over. Any thoughts?

Sorry, it's a 2013. It has 1-1/8" hoses from what I have seen. I changed out the surf bags and they were plumbed with 1-1/8".

If I recall, there was a mid year change. The 2nd gen started with 1" and sometime prior to mid-May 2013 builds they increased to a higher volume pump and increased the hose to 1-1/8". When we took delivery on ours, beginning of June, our salesperson stated that he was suprised that our boat had recieved the upgrade as he thought it was due out later (at least that is what he said).
"I think I am pretty smart for an idiot"

I just recently cross drain and vented our z1. It's all 1 1/8" on the later models. Installing check valves in the fill lines made the biggest difference. Contact west marine for the correct 1 1/8 to 1 1/8 coupler. Look under reducers on their website

West marine part # 1867498. Worked well narrow wall won't reduce flow as bad as the abs couplers you get from Home Depot. $5.79 a pop but well worth it

I think cross-venting will be the next mod to my boat. I'm still running stock pro ballast, but the fill times seem to be far too short. Further, the passive draining is quite noticeable at list.

My Z1 is a July 2013 delivery, so it sounds like I have the upgraded pumps and larger diameter fill lines.

I'm not sure if this is apples to apples, but my fill times are about 2:30 for the front bags and 5:30 for the rear bags. Maybe these are high flow pumps, but it sure seems like these bags are not getting to capacity. Can anyone comment on their fill times?
