Just bought a 2013 RZ4 and have questions

    1. When ballast are full why does water come out of the overflow? How do you fix it?
    2. On the TIGA YOU setting, do you have to keep pushing the timer reset button so the ballasts don't empty?
    3. Screen says ballest's are empty but I can still feel water in the bags?
    4. Had all ballest full and taps set at 5 but boat felt like it had no power and was working very hard to get to speed while pulling a wakeboarder, while going I put the taps back to 1 and it regained power, so basically you have to start at taps 1 then adjust once skier gets up??

Thanks for the help, love the boat and already have 70 hours on it.

    1) because the pump filling the bags is still on. when bags are full, there no other place for the water to go other than overflow.
    2)?
3)A little bit of water is normal, I usually pull my bags out and manually pour the water out
    4) Any boat with 1000 lbs of ballast will feel sluggish. The engine has to work harder to get it going just like your truck pulling the boat to the lake. TAPS is a altitude adjuster so on setting 1, it helps push the bow down causing you to plane faster. Setting 5 allows the rear of the boat to settle deeper in the water thus plowing water out of the way. A way to help the engine pull full ballast around is too re-prop with a higher pitch prop.

You have to manually stop the ballast once they are full. The water is coming out the air vent and drain vent.

Not sure on the Tige You. Timer reset on mine just resets timer. Does nothing for turning it off.

Water in the bags is normally. The hard tank below them should be empty. The bags just do not drain 100% into the hard tanks depending on the lean of the boat. Your timers could also be off. I had to adjust mine as the factory setting was way to high. Keep in mind it is just a timer. It really is no indication of how full the bags are unless dialed in. Even then there could be factors like a plugged pump or something. Just cause it says full does not mean its full till you see water coming out the side.

Guessing you got the 6.0L? Mine felt same way. The prop has a pitch of 17.5". The motor has to work so hard. The Acme 537 is a great prop. Just swapped mine to the 1235 and it is way to much. Top speed is 30 mph at 5500 rpm. Boat jumps out of the wter though. Also keep in mind that you have TAPS. You have the ability to trim down when pulling out of the water. Get the trim to 1 and it will pull out better.

more info on item 2. normally ballast only empties if you change settings. if you have tige you off... it will leave what is in there the same.

item 3. ballast bags empty into the hard tanks... from there they get pumped out. some water left in the bag is normal.

item 4. what motor and prop?

30 mph or 40 mph? 30 sounds way too low!

That sounds better. I run the 1433 with a Marine Power 340hp at 5,200' altitude and top out at 42.

Thanks for all the replies. Had boats before but never had ballest.

So when the bags are full I need to turn off the pumps? It doesn't just turn off automatically when full ? Once the timer goes off dont the bags drain if I don't reset the timer?

Motor is the PCM 409 with stock prop.

When using Tige Touch and you go to the ballast page and fill ballast the timers serve no purpose other than to give you a visual of the potential of being full. They will not auto stop the pumps.

In Tige You, your preset rider controls, the ballast will stop pumping based on the timers. So if you have a bag that you only want to fill to 25% the timer will trigger and turn off the pump.

On your switches page you have a setup page to go to and adjust the ballast timers. On our RZR the factory time for the front bags was set to 9 minutes. It only takes 4 minutes to fill at most before water is flowing out the side. So we adjusted the time to 4 minutes and now in Tige You the bags stop when we say they should.

I have the 1235 on our RZ2 at 5300ft of elevation and I top out at around 38mph. On perfectly smooth water I can break into the 40s but we rarely get that here in Colorado.
