So I just sold my RZ2. I'm currently thinking of what to add on to the build off my Z3 and I have questions about the convex vx. How does the swim platform compare to the swim platform without the convex vx. Is it the same just different brackets to hold on the convex? what is the difference in the depth of the surf wave compared with or without the convex using the pro ballast system and only having 1 person in the boat. I assume I need more weight with the convex to drive the boat deeper water. does anybody have any experience with this?

hycosurf,
By adding the VX you will increase your wave Leigh roughly three feet (this is not increasing weight) and its hight another foot-ish. By increasing your ballast system like Wake9's Z3 you'll freakout of the changes...The VX also make all taps positions totally surf-able allowing your riders different wave options. The VX has a molded tunnel that directs all the prop wash energy directly into the base of the wave creating these effects, also increasing the waves density making it a faster more efficient wave to ride on at slower speeds (10mph-ish). The platform is much thinner on the edges and there is a different swim pad design. With 2 people the VX can be removed very easily in under a minute after rooming 2 clips and 2 allen bolts..
The bracketing is all 2012/13...
If you are really thinking of this upgrade give myself or Tony Fussell a call.

Allan, have you had the chance to see a VX on an rzr or r20 yet? We are about to put an order in for an R20 and are on the fence about a VX since there doesn't seem to be any documentation on the performance of the 20 footers out there anywhere. I figure you of anyone would have seen something by now.

supremdevice,
I have not yet surfed the 20 footers with the VX yet but will be next week. Sorry, seems everyone is looking for info but Tige has been overwhelmed with everything I haven't had the chance...but will get the info out ASAP..
I firmly believe that the smaller boats will benefit from the VX the most.
with that said if you don't like your VX..I'm sure I can help you out somehow...Squid

Duncan,
It all depends on the brackets your boat has on it now...I am not sure when Tige changed brackets to the aluminum ones of today. then the bracket width need to be addresses...At this time I must direct you to the Factory...They have all the dimensions.
Sorry but thats the best I can do tell I get the info......Squid

More wave shape options (more taps settings taking you from surf to skim to beginner).
more efficient wave because its ..harder..ie more dense so the big boys don't sink in and the skinny ones ride way back.
more running leigh so you can add more ballast for that pro comp wave.
More everything
