Adding Ballast to a 2006 Tige 24 ve

I just purchased a 2006 Tige 24 ve that does not have ballast, not an issue since I would most likely upgrade even if I had a factory ballast. I wakeboard, wakesurf and wakeskate and my wife exclusviely wakesurfs. After many discussions with my wife she set out some criteria
    1) All ballast must be hidden in the seating areas
    2) Storage under the seats must not be taken up with ballst bags (took custom or enzo sacs out of the equation.

So here is what I did
    1) ordered two 1,100 fly high jumbo sacs for the rear compartments (these were listed as recomended sacs by wakemakers)
2)ordered a pair of 400lb V-Drive sacs, they will be placed in the bow under the seats. These seem like they would be a fetter fit that the side by side sacs, I wont be able to fill them up but at least I can move them around as my wife settles in.
    3) I'll keep the dual batteries behind the stern panel on the port side.
    4) the area between the rear lockers and where the underseat storage begins I will be putting in two 8" subs which will add some weight as well as listening pleasures.
    5) I'll use two tsnaumi pumps for now until I save more up for a fully automated system hopefully next year.

    Questions:
    1) Is two tsnaumi pumps overkill?? how long does it take to fill a 1100 lb bag?
    2) Someone nearby is giving away 05 24v hard tanks and from what I've seen these go in the rear compartments where the foam is located, Can I put these in the rear compartment and still keep my batteries tucked away?
    3) Would adding a v-drive sac to the walk through area up front to the bow help the wake at all for wakesurfing or wakeboarding?
    4) how much weight is normally needed to get a good wakeboard wake and how should I weight the boat?
    5) From what i've read on 24 ve's you really want to keep as much weight in the back as possible for surfing and weight up front is not needed, is this true or should I fill a v-drive sac that will be placed under the seat up front?

Please let me know if anyone has had experience with the jumbo sacs in the rear compartments as well.

    Work2live,

Congrats and welcome to the site.

    4) are the 2 8" sub your only subs? A single 10" or 12" tuned right with the right amp can make a good transition from the 6.5" in-boat coaxs. I would consider a pair of 8" coaxials as opposed to an 8" sub, unless the 6 in-boats had very strong tweeters with good power. From the factory, the 06 Ve would have had 2 or 3 pair of Kicker KS series components on either the KX700.5 or the KX350.4.

??? 1) no, a pair of the W709 pump kits is not overkill to fill a W719 Jumbo sac. The jumbo will hold about 900 lbs in the locker of the Ve. The Tsunami T1200 flows about 18 GPM. A gallon of water weighs about 8.33 lbs

    2) Pass on the tanks. The Ve has shorter lockers then the older V. So even getting them to fit may be an issue. In the end, they will take up valuable space even when empty. Stick with all sacs.

    3) IMO, the Ve boats like about a 60 front / 40 rear % ballast split. So for wake-boarding, I would not fill the jumbo sacs full. Yes, an added 400 in the bow will help the wake-board wake. For surfing, I would not run any bow wight with only a W719 jumbo in the rear. it will reduce the height and push.

    4) how much weight is personal preference, but the ideal split is noted above.

    5) Adding bow wight will lengthen the pocket, but only when there is enough ballast in the rear.

My current system consist of one 12" Alpine Type R under the dashboard, four 6.5" type R component speakers in the boat, diamond audio speakers on the tower. The 12" is powered by a 400.1 Alpine V12, the boat speakers and towers are powered by an Alpine V12 125x4 channel.

I was looking to put the two 8" subwoofers under the port and starboard seats, the empty storage area that's between the rear locker and the visible storage space when you take the seat cushions off.

Congrats and welcome to the site. You can't lose storage but your going to fill them with subs

I would skip the additional subs and go for more weight especially since you have a 24 footer. Just my

As of now we only surf one side, so one side is for storage as is under the observers seat as well as under the helm and the other is for ballast.

It was my wifes idea.... she's OK with subs but not fat sacs.... hopefully when she starts surfing more she'll want to throw a v-drive sac under the seat and we'll have close to 1,200 lbs on one side.

First thing you should have done is asked us. Chpthril is our resident ballast/stereo provider. He takes care of us and we take care him.

I think you'll end up getting the customs eventually. It seems most do. It's also a big gain in space to move the batteries. WABoating's ballast set up included that as well as moving the taps pump and removing the floor in the ballast lockers. The 24 is a big boat and is going to require big ballast.

Welcome to the site. Post pics of the boat please.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

In my 24ve I find that the additional weight that can be added under the seat is a big plus. It only takes up space when full. If you do not have to switch side to side for surfing you will always have one side clear. Storage space was my concern also but the extra weight won out and I do not need as much space as I thought. Also you will find that you will really want a complete install automated system. Good luck and have fun.

If you don't do full customs, you could do Enzos and just fold the "arm" portion under the "body" portion initially. Then, when your wife realizes more ballast is better, you can just unroll the arms out under the seats and instantly have several hundred pounds more ballast for no extra money. You'll look like a genius! And on those days when you DO need the extra room, just put them back under the bag bodies.

Enzos are standard sacs, too, so probably less expensive to get you started.
