my understanding is the surf is a single bag and pro has dual bags in the bow, I'd think that would account for the cost increase.

Surf is a single 400lb U-Shapped bag and Pro is 2 single 400lb bags, another difference is that I know the Pro is boxed off and I believe the surf is still left open.

Here is my opinion on this, I have a 2012 R20 Surf ballast (single U shaped bag in the front, tanks+bags in the back)

There are a lot of boats on the water where I go, also big 40ft boats sometimes.
When you are surfing with full ballast, and have 2 people in the front bow as well, its almost impossible to avoid taking a roller from another boat over your bow.

With that said, If i have people sitting in the front of the boat, I almost never fill the bow, because of the fear of rollers from other boats that have the potential to almost sink the boat, or cause damage to electrical or mechanical components (starter, alternator, vdrive, etc).

If the bow of the Z1, is as low as the R20, and you usually have people sit in the front (2x200+ lbs people), I would definitely not get the extra weight, any small roller will crash over your bow.

I don't understand why wakeboard boats have such a shallow bow, you see all these crappy I/O's that have their bow hight twice the size of wakeboard boats.
