Cost of Ballast install for 08 Z1

    Hey all,
I am thinking about getting ballast installed on my Z1. It's getting a little old filling and emptying with the Tsunami pumps.

Can anyone give me a rough estimate of what it would cost to have it installed? I will not be doing to work myself as I just don't feel comfortable drilling holes into my boat .

I will need two pumps for the rear lockers and one in the bow.

Any help is appreciated and thanks!!

Get ahold of Chpthril for parts and do it yourself. It's not that scary. We'll help you out.

Having someone do it for you could be in the neighborhood of 4k.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

For a simple install like your talking, I would guess less than 1000 bucks in parts, the labor to install will be tricky, it depends on how much prep you can do and how familiar your installer is with a ballast system. Any marine mechanic should be able to figure it out but they charge a lot per hour to figure it out. If you can find someone with experience or if you want to take your time over the winter we can help you do it yourself.

I have an 08 Z1, I put in a ballast system this last winter. It can be intimidating, but it is quite easy once you get started. I would recommend you do it yourself. There are great resources on this site to help you through the project.

In all, I think I spent around $1300-$1400 for the ballast system I did and it has worked flawlessly since the first day.

If you have questions about the Z1 specifically, you are welcome to contact me and I can help you out. Don't be afraid of it, it is a fun project and the payoff is well worth it. The first time you hit those switches to fill your ballast instead of throwing a pump over the side you will realize just how awesome it is.

                Word.

Drilling holes in one's boat is a good test of one's intestinal fortitude.

                = Fun!

True, but it takes a real set to drill another mans boat

I'd think it takes a BIGGER set to let someone else drill YOUR boat.
