    Ballast Pump Issue

Kinda new to this crossover boat thing and ballast. Bought a 2008 20V and we are having a blast with it so far. Wife and son had it out on the lake yesterday and when I caught up with them last night I noticed that the forward port side ballast pump was not working properly. It would not turn on to fill the tank - but would turn on to empty it. Not sure what is up worked fine the last two times out...Looks like each tank has it's own pump. Factory installed? Yellow body....

    Any ideas/ Time to replace?

If it has the Tige factory ballast your fill pumps should be on a manifold just forward of the engine in the bilge area. The pumps on the sacs will just be for draining.
Congrats on Your new boat, Welcome to Tige Owners and we require pictures of your new ride

Like Dr mentioned pics are required. Congrats and Welcome.

If you check the manifolds you ought to be able to narrow it down to which one is the one that is not working. Start each pump by itself and listen or feel the pumps. It could be a loose connection, a bad cartridge, bad pump motor, etc...

As mentioned, the pump you see at each tank are the drain pumps. Each tank has its own fill pump and they are located in the bilge. When it quite, turn the pumps on one at a time. You should here them humming. You can do.this out of the water if needed. If you dont hear the suspect pump run its time to test the electrical.

                    Skip - you are correct.

I would like to get the same racks as on the MC towers.

Dont sweat the electrical. A $5 12V test lights will go along way into diagnosing the pump issue.

Wife and son out on the lake the last two days for like 7 hours each day. Only the port aft tank filled and me sitting on the port side. Gets a nice curl at about 10.9 MPH. Forward tank still won't fill. Thinking that the pumps are below the floor where the mystery door is. You hear them turn on when the other tanks are filling - just not the forward port side.....

Gotta try the surfing one of these days - Maybe next season.

$20-$40 fix depending on the replacment cartidge you buy. I'm sure you have the cartridge Johson pumps. They are red bodies pumps below the floor hatch (probalby 550gph) and yellow pumps connected to each tank to empty them (probably 500gph). Buy the 1000gph cartridges if you replace them. They won't cut the fill/empty time in half but they do help.

Then when you are ready, remove those hard tanks and do a complete ballast overhaul! Have fun!
