    2011 Tige RZR Wide Wake

I purchased Chris Leboufs 2011 Tige RZR... it has a surf ballast system...

The surf wake is sick, but when wakeboarding i have had an issue of the wake seeming really wide and not super clean ( a little lip grabbing at the peak)

I havent played with it a ton, but had ballast full and taps wasnt fully engaged... has anyone else had a problem with this? Could this be a cause of too much bow weight? I run with the front horshoe full pretty much the whole time...

Rope lenght was 65 ft and tried shortening it, and was running like 23-24 mph wich is a little fast for my liking...

Too much rear weight IMO. Run the bow 100% and the the rear at 50% and see what that does.

Not sure what you mean by "TAPS wasnt fully engaged" though. The TAPS is used for adjusting the wake and can be set to any position between O and 8 or 1 and 7, what ever it is on your gauge. With running ballast, you should find that is will clean up the wake as you run it down (lower number).

      x2.

at 24 mph your wake should be pretty clean at 65ft that is pretty short IMHO.

Thanks for the quick responses... im taking her out on wednesday and will play more...

65 is really short and 23-24 is way to fast... Ill try front ballast full and zero in the back.. i also had 6 people so probably didnt need much additional ballast..

I remember in my dads 01 21V Riders we had a problem with the wake washing out when we slammed the rear end with sacks..

So is TAPS at 1 wake and 8 is SKI?

This was the old school marketing. Now, just think of the TAPS as a wake adjusting device. 1 is down, 8 is up, thats it. No more "Wakeboard" and "Ski" positions. Use it to adjust the wake lip, ramp and cleanliness. The TAPS setting will probably change as the weight in the boat changes.

as time goes on... you will find those to be pretty good speeds to board at... I used to ride at 21-22.. but as I have gotten better... 23 - 24 mph is just right!

one thing i have also found on my setup.. pumps have vapor locked.. not really put in the water that tige touch claims. so you might want to really verify what is what.

Ideally. 100% ballast, taps at 3, 22 mph. The wake is wide and lippy. That's my money set up there's tons of photos and threads I started on this topic, it took me a long time to figure out. I go bigger on this set up than my buddies x25 with 2500# of ballast at 75 feet.

If I remember, that boat has upgraded surf sacs in the rear so that's going to be a ton of weight at 50% if the timers are right. Not having enough now weight in the RZR is going to create a very lippy wake. A good rule of thumb is to try and keep the weight as balanced as possible or not more than 40/60 (bow/stern). Depending on the number of people, gas, etc this may be 0 rear ballast or 100% like JreisRzR.

22mph is a good speed, depending on weight, Taps anywhere from 1-3 (mostly just to clean or shape the wake how you like it), 65-70' is usually a good length on the RZR and is where we ride.

I need to see a pic of the wake. at 65ft and 23-24 mph I cant understand how the wake would be considered wide. Short rope narrow boat and that speed should result in a pretty narrow wake really. Please post a pic. With full ballast you going to need to keep the TAPS @ a lower # like 3 IMPO. It will not affect width but will help shape and get rid of the lip at the top.
JreisRzR setup is what I would be looking at. Those sound like #s I am familar with resulting in a nice clean usable wake.
Also knowing for sure what Sacs you have in the back would help. Are they the stock surf ballast or something aftermarket?

Ok im going out tomorrow with about 6 people... so ill just go with no weight and taps only to see how she works and adjust from there...

Correct, my RZR has a surf enzo bag (1100 pounds correct?) in the back left and what i believe is a stock Horseshoe bag in bow and back right..

                    Questions -
                    1. how much weight is the bow horseshoe and the regular rear sack? The rear bag is pretty square and doesnt go up under the seats...

                    2. Chris said that he had the shop put in the ballast so they adjusted the timers.. I have been confused though when filling the sacks... i feel like i am resetting the timer to fill the enzo bag when surfing.. should i have to to this?

                    3. I also dont like the idea of the enzo bag being half full (i realize it has to be to stay even with the smaller sack), but does the slack in the bag effect anything???

Thanks guys! ill be sure to take some photos tomorrow

The OEM bow sac will hold about 400+. The OEM surf sac is 350#. For wakeboarding, fold the leg of the custom surf sac under the main section. This will limit the amount that it will fill. Dont worry about it being partially filled.

6 people all in the back front sac full taps 0n 5 22.5 mph. Thats my guess. You should be able to fill the front fill the stock bag in the back and fill the enzo sac as close to the stock bag as you can. That plus 6 peeps set the taps to 2-3 and 22.5 should be golden. Usable wake fron 65-75ft @ 22.5mph without issue IMPO. Have fun and dont forget the pics. Take them with people in the middle and sides so we have some perspective. Make sense?
