22ve advanced level wakeboard wake. how much ballast?

I am buying a 2007 22ve this week . It does not have any ballast options on it but is a killer deal. I am wondering how much ballast I am going to need in order to get a exceptional wakeboard wake? What sacks should go where? I don't really care about surfing right now.... still have knees for the time being.

I am also wondering can you put any of the sacks under the floor? I'm guess I will have plenty of room in the back for above floor. But can I fit anything under the floor in the front?

Any suggestions?

Hmmm never ridden that hull. Mine makes monster wake at 2k and I'm starting to ride at a more advanced level. I'd say shoot for 2.5-3k and it'd be pretty hefty. Someone better than I can probably chime in. Also tiges love a 55/45 split jut a heads up

I don't think you can get any under the floors up front. The gas tank is there. You can get it under the seat cushions. As to the back WABoating took his floor out and put in a big sack, mainly done for surfing and he has a 24 Ve.

Are you looking for a rampy or steep wake? I had a v drive sac in starboard side and the custom sac, for surfing, in the port. I would fill them both until the v drive sac was filled. No weight up front. The wake was steeper and wider than my buddies '06 SANTE. I had a 750# sac that I just swapped with the v drive sac. I did the same thing, no weight up front, with the TAPS at 5 and it was good. I have only ridden mine, my buddies, and my brothers '98 centurion to compare.

I am wanting to put my v drive sacs up front now and see what that does to the wake.

robert theisen may chime in with what he used on his '07, he is more advanced than myself. If he doesn't reply PM him.

I definitely like a little steeper wake. But it's not to have some ramp to it and not just hitting a wall.

I just didn't know where is the best place to put the sacks and how big of sacks I need for getting the big wake I want.

It would be ideal to plumb the sacks too.

I have weighted my 2008 for surfing. You can check the thread. I have custom sacs in the rear lockers that extend under the side seats. They each hold around 1100 lbs. I have a single v shaped sac in the bow that probably fills to 400 lbs. You could do all that without changing walls in the lockers. There is more space aft of the rear lockers if you are inclined to max it out. I think that ups the cost quite a bit to get true custom built sacs. You can certainly get sacs and manually fill this year and plumb in later. You will want to automate once you have them. Good luck. Congratulations on the boat. We would love to see picks. 22Ve won't have a steep ramp, Tige's in general have a nice ramp with a little longer transition. People used to say that you have to "wait" for the pop compared to other boats. I'd say put a horseshoe sac in the front and then order up the custom surf sacs for it in the back and fill them up 1/2 way and you will have a nice solid wake. You could also throw a v-drive sac in the walkway in the front(on top of the horseshoe) and then fill the surf sac's all of the way and it will be killer. You will need the Acme 1235 or better prop for that though.

I have a 2009 22Ve and i run about 1900 pounds ballast then add usually 8-12 people. I have 900 pounds front and 1000 back. I try to get three people in front for runs and even the rest of the weight out. Taps just use it to clean the lip up. i ride 75' rope at 24 MPH and its a monster wake.

On my 2007 22VE i used two 400lb sacks one in each rear locker a 540 on the rear seat a 540 centered on the front bow filler and front seat. Then a 750 sack in the walkway as far forward as possible.That made a mackin wake! I ride at 24mph on a 85' line and would set TAPS at 4.The front weight makes the wake more mellow and the rear weight makes the wake steeper.Usually 2000 lbs is plenty if you have 3-4 peeps with you.Hope this helps.

Looks most like a Malibu wake.With Taps you can adjust steepness,as you add weight you don't need as much Taps.Example with no Ballast i usually set Taps to 6 or 7.When i run 2000 lbs. of ballast i set Taps at 3 or 4.The 2000 lb. wake with Taps on one also looks great,but it's not steep enough for me.I'll see if i can dig up some pictures.

This picture was taken before my ballast upgrade, it was the factory 900lbs all full, 6 people on boat, so it got a lot bigger after the added weight but this wake is pretty nice.

Not a good pic. I was playing around with the ballast. There is no weight up from only rear.
