Congrats on the install. I really like your improved and larger access hole for the v drive. I have been thinking about doing that. What did you use as a cover? I guess if you ever have trouble with your vents leaking water out when you don't want it you could always just switch each vent to the other side without to much trouble. Enjoy your new set up.

Reviewing this again, I don't think it mattered which kind of thruhull was used. The forward-facing thruhulls do generate pressure, but that pressure will be up against the impeller blades. If the pump is not running, the incoming water won't prime because there is no way for the air in the line to bleed off. Once the pump is turned on, it will evacuate the air itself as it self-primes.

So I don't think it mattered. The pumps will work perfectly now, and would have worked perfectly with standard thruhulls too.

I have seen these pumps let water bypass the impeller and fill the bag without being on. But he is dealing with the potential issue by shutting off the thru hulls. Nautique systems do the same thing. Looks good but a sea trial without wake pics is an epic fail!!!!! Get us some pics will ya!!

With the original black impellers, this would probably not be an issue. When these pumps switch to the blue impellers, they had so little friction, that they would actually passively drain. Now with the green ones, they have more friction then the blue, but less then the black.

Ive also seen these pumps on a rear facing scoop suck the sac out when running on plane.

Remarkable. These impeller pumps can draw a vacuum, which means they must be airtight. I'm surprised an airtight pump would passively allow air or water to flow through. Good to know!

Nope, at least not right now. The wave is tall with a lot of push. Adding weight to the bow will increase the length but you loose push, or at least that's what I am told. AJ, I have the two of the 1100# sacs that I got from CHP. I am so glad he talked me into it versus the 750# sac. It won't fill all the way cause our lockers are 4 inches to small length wise, but even then the wave is great!

I just went down to West Marine up here in Reno, and bought the larger access panel, and did some slight modifications to make it fit.
I think it was like $40. I can't remember now.

I know I know.... We had some issues on this trip. Hit up my trailer thread, and you will see how last weekend went for me. HA!

All the issues that people told me would be a problem, or had me scared that I had did my setup wrong didn't occur. No passive filling, no passive draining, and the speedo worked fine. We were on a river so I think that was a factor with the speedo being a little goofy.

FINALLY got pictures of my wave since the ballast install.

Hyphen .5 ready to head back to camp as I was draining the starboard sac:

                Doing about 11.8

Ahhh, the Pinnacles. I haven't been there in a long time.

Yep! The water was like glass the whole entire day that we were out there, but it meant about a 2 hour clean-up once we got off of the water. One of the things I hate about that lake. The extra clean up.

Is Pelicans still the only ramp out there?

Yep, and the chaos is always amusing out there. Especially the fisherman that have their wives stand next to the boat at the end of the launch ramp as they park their trucks. Mrs Hyphen gets PISSSSSSED off when she sees this. HAHA!

That's another reason I don't go out there. They have done exactly nothing to improve that place. Such a beautiful place, run by the laziest bunch of injuns on the planet.

Got that right. That place is a GOLD MINE, but it's not managed properly.

this is universal to all lakes and is by no means limited to Pyramid.

The unique thing about pyramid is not the wally's wife holding the boat at the launch ramp, it's the yahoos that will be pulling tubes 30' behind the boat ramp all day long. But get a mile away and it's like you're the last boat on earth. Can be heaven (and hell) on the right day.
