Always looking for ways to improve!

So im always looking for ways to improve my ballast setups...and here's the latest.

If you remember back last year, I did some pump flow testing. In those tests, it was determined that the biggest bottle neck was at the W736 .75 male sac valve fitting. The .75 hose didnt really slow the flow rate, but its impossible to stretch it over the 1.125" fittings. So to avoid the .75" fittings and use the 1.125, you need to use 1" hose. This can prevent a not so conventional union on a pump like the Attwood T800.

The T800 pump has a .75 inlet, very common, and a .75 threaded outlet. The pump comes with a .75" female thread x .75 hose barb. This fitting also hurts the pumps flow rate same as the W736.

I know have a new fitting that is .75" female threads x 1" hose barb. This will allow the use of a value pump, like the T800, yet a solid connection with 1" hose, so you can use the larger, higher flow 1.125" sac fittings.

I like it. Did you plan on using the new fitting and larger sac fittings on my install?

You where already getting 1" hose and fitting on the fill lines as well as on the rear drain pumps as they are the T1200 pumps. They come with the 1.125" outlets.

Mike, what size are the additional bag fittings you sent me? I haven't used them yet, would this be something I could use on my setup?

                BW,

You got a straight and elbow 1.125" fitting that takes 1" hose. So these new fittings will thread right on you T800 outlet allowing for a perfect fit with 1" hose. Do you still have the .75" thread x hose-barb 90's that came with the pumps? You will need the rubber washer out of them.

I just put silicone on the threads and put the 1" tube right over the threads and tightened the clamp down on it, no fitting at all on it. I actually have it this way on all 4 pumps and no leaks. IMO the fitting is a luxury item.

I still have everything. I haven't done any work yet and I'm not at home. I was just wondering if these fittings were included in my box of goodies, and if not, I'll email you to get some.

I was thinking of the front sacs....If I remember correctly you are putting 800's up there.....but then again with the fill time of the rear sacs the fronts will be finished well before....so it would not really matter is the big picture...

With Dual T800 up front to drain the bow sac, thats 26 GPM. The front will be emptied before the rears. The two pumps will be connected to the bow sac via 1" hose as well, so just the outlet to the thru-hull will be 3/4.
