Z1 - anyone add more ballast after 900 lbs factory install?

I had a guy on my boat last weekend bring 2 - 400 lbs bags for surfing. We had them full and front tanks and one surf side. Wake was great. I am interested in upgrading to add more permanent sacs. I may just add the additional "surf sacs" or maybe go all out and add bigger sacs from Fly High. Has anyone added more ballast to their Z1 past factory 900 lbs? Can you provide any pics or info for install? I really hate to lose all the storage in the back though.

Dave, I have the factory 900 and an additional 750 fat sac. I liked the wave until I got a few extra peeps int the boat and then I really liked it. I have already checked in with chpthrl about plumbing in a custom sac. It is about 1200# that fully fills the locker with arm that extends up the side. Might check with him if that is of interest to you.

Check with chpthrl. I was concerned about lost storage, so he made me a custom cube for my rz2 that only occupied the v drive locker, weigh in about 550lbs. If I don't have enough peeps in the boat then I add some extra weight with standard sacs on the floor

He did. He piggy-backed a 400# sac on the factory 250# tank. In the Spring, he is thinking about pulling it and going with a custom.

The piggy-back mod is not overly involved or expensive (minus the sac).

It is a easy mod and I got a great deal from Chp

It helped the wake a bunch just like you noticed but I do think I'm going to pull everything and go with custom sac's this winter, it seems as I can control the wake and peep placement when I'm at the helm but when I'm back riding it seems as if everyone in the boat loses focus on their seat assignments. So I am going to try and add a failsafe for that.

Chp has a set up ready, I'm just waiting to pull the trigger

I piggy backed a 400# on the 250# factory tanks, and works ok. im planning on custom sacks from chpthrill this winter as well. my theory is more weight the better.

I was thinking about this sac here:

                  http://fatsac.com/FATSACS.bifh

scroll half way down - Enzo Sac W712 - Now this is a 1450lb sac, however I do not plan on filling it up all the way. I also thought about making a divider of sorts to still use maybe the back 10-14" of the storage area on both sides of the engine for our BIG cooler on one side and maybe anchor and ropes on the other side. That way I am still retaining minor storage for things I want to keep back there but still able to fill any other voids with a sac. Make sense?

Is this sac way overkill? Generally we have 6 people, but thise times when we only have 2-4 people, then when one is riding that leaves even 1 less in the boat.

Given the dimensions of the Z1, the Enzo will net you about 1100 Lbs. Partitioning off 10-14" of the rear of section of the locker would deduct about 250 lbs in the most important area. I would leave the locker whole and locate those items some where else in the boat.

On the 10"-14" - I have an igloo cube cooler on one side which is always full, ice water beer etc. and the other side my anchor. I didn't really want to drag the anchor across the seats and store in the boat. We always pull the anchor in from the rear so we do not drag a dirty anchor over the boat. Any other suggestions?

now, i think my wake could've been better but we do not surf very often and i am not that good on dialing in the boat at this point but i do know that much more weight will make a big difference
