Ballast & Sound System - HELP!!!

    Hi All,

I am looking to install a custom automatic ballast system in my 2008 RZ4. Is there anybody that can help design a perfect system for me? Right now we mostly wake surf & wakeboard. I am looking to make it as stock as possible. My boat does not have the factory ballast system.

    2nd Question:

I am looking to upgrade my sound system, I need tower speakers, amps & subs. I am looking for a clear crisp sound, any suggestions on brands, combinations, etc.

    Mr. Ol Skool,

Wave Makers can hook you up.. and ChpThril too.
Lots of good threads in here about ballast... (im just too lazy to post them all for you)
So this monkey walks into a bar...

      Ol School,

I can help you design both your ballast and stereo.

Ballast: Since you do not have any ballast, that will be easy. What size crew do you normally ride with?

Stereo: What gear do you currently have in the boat? What aspects of the current system are lacking and in what ways? What are you goals in regards to a tower system and subwoofer?

You certainly can't get your ballast system at a better price than chpthrl. He was lower on everything. He also knows his chit. Wetsounds seems to be the way to go, especially if you want it to remain stock in appearance. I don't have a giant system in my boat. It's very basic so, I'll leave those comments to the appropriate members.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

For my boat and skills I did not need to increase the wakeboard wake so I just needed to do something for surfing. I decided to go with manual for a year to see how it all works before I went with an automated system.

One thing that I decided was to pay the money once and go big. I am so glad that I did. That would be my biggest suggestion. I would even do the same for your stereo. Go as big as you think you ever would need and your budget can afford.

I know that Chpthril will be able to help based on that as well. Just let him know what your intentions are.

Chpthril is a wealth of knowledge that he has been happy to share and we have all benefited from that. Great prices too.

                    Hey Mike,

Sounds like you are the man with all the plans. We have small kids so when we do have a chance to enjoy and adult day in the boat we usaully ride with 4 to 6 adults, I am sure that will change in time as our kids get older. I would like to max out in weight as much as possible and make the biggest wake but want do not want sacrifice practibility. I want to look as stock as possible. I want to pump the water in and out as fast as possible and be able swith sides quickly or emply all sacs quickly. Is this possible? What would you budget for this kinf of job?

As far as the stereo goes, I would like some great tower speakers that look and sound great, I would like to run two subs if possible. Looking for suggestions and a realistic budget.

Thanks to all for all your suggestions, I will do my best to build a killer wake and a monster sound system. Thank you all for all the great feedback. I will keep you posted as this will be a Winter project. FYI, for those of you that posted the great deal on the 2008 RZ4 out of TN, I can tell it is a great a boat.

                      G.

The fact that your 08 does not have the factory ballast makes it easy to do a couple of Enzo sacs in the back. The Enzos have extra port, so you can do dual fill and dual drain pumps if you want. We can also design a transfer system that will move water from one sac to the other, making switching surf sides even quicker.

There are soo many good tower speaker options out there, so its a matter of...do you want to project crystal clear music to the rider at wakeboard line length or full-range rich sound for surfing and party-cove type listening, or both. This will get you on the right path of either HLCD (Horn Loaded Compression Drivers) or stay with a coax based speaker, or a mix.

One 12" sub with the right power, placed in the right location with the right enclosure will be very impressive. Finding a spot for a second could be tough in order to get the anticipated performance out of them.

Let me chew on this and i'll get back to you with some ideas.

                          Hi Mike,
Don't want to hijack this thread, but I'll be anxious to see your thoughts. I'm in a very similar boat (no pun intended) as Ol Skool. Just got an RZ4 with no factory ballast. Crew on board is almost identical (4-6 adults when kids aren't riding otherwise replace 2-4 of the adults with 2-6 kids)... Also looking to add a subwoofer to my system. The boat came with Alpine's in the cabin, Alpine amp, 4 Dbot5 on the tower but no sub.
Everyone says you're the man! Looking forward to your recommendations...

                          Thanks,

                          Randy
