I have a feeling it will also tone down the vibration/cavitation I get

My acc swithches-one for the stock stereo and the other i don't know.
do you surf on the Goofy side? I notice I got vibration when setup on that side. I figured that would be the best side do to prop rotation but it wasn't.

we ride the boat both ways, my wife is goofy foot. The sound is worse on that side for sure but the wake is actually pretty good on either side. Last week I noticed that we were sufing nicely but loudly (regular)and then dropped one person off, boat lightened by 150 lbs. Noise gone, wake ok. Dropped another 200 lbperson off, wake disappearing but sound gone. Out of curiosity I put the plate to 7 and noise returned. Wake kinda mushy. I will delve further into the mystery this weekend but I'm pretty sure a 653 wil do the trick.

For waterskiing, our boat has rpm reading of 3520 at 33 mph. Do you know what yours has at that speed given the 653? My concern is over-reving the engine if i change props and ski all the time.

It sounds like you need to check your transmission fluid from some of the posts, they were saying the same thing about noise.
I don't know what my RPM's are but I know it is higher and my top end is slower w/ the 653.
