    Kspwski's 21i Ballast Install

I've been reading on TigeOwners ever since I bought my boat a year and a half ago. I've always loved slalom skiing and wanted a boat I could ski well behind. Little did I know that it could throw a decent surf wake! After a few outings with a full boat and seeing how much the extra weight improved the wake I knew I had to add a ballast system.

Chpthril's install on JLoflin's Boat provided awesome direction for how I could add built in system to my boat. Huge thanks to Michael for his help and getting me setup!

I'm going to run a rear seat sac underneath the back seat with a dedicated ballast puppy pump. I'll have a 707 sac that will go on either the port or starboard side (blasted goofy riders) with it's own pump as well. I'm planning on having a pump mounted on both sides of the ski locker.

I started the install over the weekend and wanted to get a few pictures up.

I'll have three hoses to route through the seat mounts so I mocked up a few pieces to see what size of hole to cut.

This is how I put the sealant on the thru hull, is this correct?

It seemed to make a good seal all the way around

      Inlet is finished!

      Questions:
Did I chamfer the inlet hole enough?
      Any novel pump mounting ideas?

My plan is to leave the shower pump in it's current location and mount the side bag pump on a new plate behind the fuel fill tube. I think I'll make a bracket to flip the rear sac tube vertical and tuck it next/behind the fuel vent tube.

The chamfer is fine. The pumps need to be mounted with the head below the motor, and the above the water line of the boat. (According to many in here).

Looks like its coming together K, Love the product-placement

Is there room for the side sac pump to fit between the bilge vent and fuel fill, on top of the cover when it goes back in?

Yeah, I think there is room. I was thinking that I would build a plate to have the pump fit underneath the cover, but on top would work too.

The picture shows the clearance available.

Looks like someone tried to rig the blower vent with packing tape, anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? There is barely enough hose to reach without the covers on, much less with the cover adding restriction.

Where are you putting the pumps?

One pump will be mounted vertically (with the pump down, as you said) on the port side tucked beside/behind the fuel tank vent. I need to play around with the other pump placement yet, but I believe it will ultimately be mounted on the starboard side to the rear of the fuel fill tube on top of the cover.

Oh man, I can't believe I've missed this thread. I'm just getting ready to do mine.

Regarding the blower vent. I'm planning on building a snorkle for it. It will run all the way over to the center of the compartment and the blower hose will connect just behind the tank. It will be basically 1" deep and 4" wide and sit flat along the stern. I've got a bunch of 3/8 solid alder that I am going to fab it up with and then coat with automotive undercoat. It should be a real PITA but, it will be one hell of a lot better than the blower hose set up that is in there now plus I can fit more ballast on that side with that confounded hose gone. I'm also going to redo that cover at the filler neck. There is quite a bit of space to be gained right there.

I'm planning to mount the pumps inside the seat supports. There is plenty of room in there, I just need to cut the holes and fab a cover for the top and mount an access in the face of them. Giant PITA but pumps will be hidden in dead space. Five, can I borrow your Rotozip?
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Hey k- I have the same boat and the same req's ,ie, mostly waterskiing but some surfing. We get a decent wake with about 1200 lbs. The problem I have is a loud vibration that is either cavitation or something else. Have put extra tranny fluid in and always surf with a full tank of gas. I put an acme 615 on last year that really helped but can't get rid of the sound. What prop do you run? Do you have this issue? TRD, if you are out there, do you have any thoughts? Has anybody waterskied with a 653 prop?
                              Thx
