    need more weight

i just bought on 08 22ve with stock ballast. i have a set of v-drive sacs that i would like to plumb in the rear lockers. is it possible to use the stock pumps and t in the lines? im not too worried about fill and dump time. just need a little more weight.

Check with Chpthrill - he is the ballast master and could direct you with the correct fittings/advice. Assume you have the hard tanks behind that awful battery box design - well worth the investment to remove and add one big bag.

See attach link as a reference point.

congratulations on the new purchase - that is a beautiful boat. Would love to see more pictures. I have the stock ballast on the same boat.
Are you looking at a surf set-up? I surf with one of the rear stock tanks plus a manually filled W705

on the same side. It is reasonable, but I am looking for much more weight.

Majestic is a good guy to talk to about how to properly weight your boat for surfing.

If you are talking about wakeboarding ???

I struggle with the idea of removing the hard tanks. 250 lbs where they are is good. The batteries are only about 80 lbs. My ideal is to get rid of the step and relocate the batteries (and the TAPS pump) so that I can fit the biggest sacks in the compartments. That will be my winter project - waiting to see the final configuration of Ragboy's 24Ve.

thanks for the ideas, im kind of on a budget for a bit now so that's why id like to use my existing sacs. I don't need the biggest wave but a little more would be nice.

The factory system in 08 really presents some unique challenges for both sac fitting and plumbing. IMO, the ideal sac to supplement the factory tank is the W705 Seat Bottom sac. it will give you about 600 in addition to your 250 hard tank. You 400 lbs V-drive sac will work, but only fill to about 300 lbs due to the space available and the dimensions of the sac.

Now, plumbing it in is tough, because the sac and tank are on the same plane. You can piggyback the system and have the sac fill using the vent line off the tank, but the sac will not drain without its own drain pump. This can be tied into the existing drain pumps electrical and plumbing easily, but is just a little added cost.

thanks for the info chp. I'll probably get a couple more pumps and piggyback the fill, and start saving for different sacs. if
I take the tanks out and move the batteries and taps will the enzo sacs fit?

Mls I still think if you move the batteries forward and put a custom sac like the one I have you will be happy. You will get 250 pounds more than I have and I think mine's enough now. Just my

totally agree - did you get the customs from Chp? I wonder if I can swap out the fill pumps which I believe are 800's for 1200's and piggyback the fill. Then just add 2 drain pumps?

Anyone have any experience moving the Taps pump?

lancehon, you can do the same

If a surf wake is your primary goal, then pulling the hard tank to relocate the batteries is the way to go. A better fit for the 22Ve is a custom sac. Our 2nd Gen is coming in at about 1100+ Lbs for the port side.

I think the factory pumps are Mayfare 750 gph. The factory ballast manifold uses 3/4 NPTs. The Attwood Tsunami T1200 uses a 1-1/8" straight thread inlet. There is na adaptor that brings it down to 3/4", but it is SOOOO restrictive. The Rule 1100 gph pump has a 3/4" NPT inlet and is actually faster then the T1200, even without the reducer fitting.

On Jbort's 22Ve, we left the original pumps intact and added in a couple of new 1100 gph fill and drain pumps to supplement. It fills the custom sac in about 6 minutes.

I did get my Sacs from Chp and I would reccomend you doing the same. You know you already have the invite to come on my boat and you will see what the 1K custom is like. I am very happy with mine and they are stuffed on the goofy side. If you decide to remove the tanks I will happily take them off you hands and that will be my winter project. I would simply add another fill and drain pump rather than piggy backing them.

lancehon, The invite is out to you too if you ever in the Seattle area and want to surf.

correct me if I'm wrong but I should be able to piggy back the fill off the overfill of the hard tanks and have a separate drain pump for the bags and t into the drain hose with 2 check valves, 1 for each drain pump?
