God bless the persons who invented the pipe wrench, wire ties and tigeowners.com.
The toughest part of starting.... well....is starting. My plan on thru hull and pump locations changed a couple of times. Measure twice drill once.... NO! Measure five times drill once. I almost ran into a problem which would have been real tough to overcome. Right down the center line the keel actually disappears and flatens out. So if your installing, look out for the flat part of the keel. If you get too close to the center line keel I would think your almost screwed because of the different angles on the bottom of the boat.
Obviously you will dry fit everything together, but keep in mind that you will have to screw parts and pumps and elbows etc. Make sure you have enough room to turn parts and pumps 360°. I almost ran into a problem of the outlet on the rule pumps hitting a hose. I suppose I would have had to disconnect it to get it out of the way.
I didnt get too much done but here is a few pics of this evenings project.
1. Yes those are my size 12's. When looking in from the engine hatch you would think where the hell am I going to have enough room. No question you will have to remove back seat. (Couple of threads already on this). Bunch of screws and a couple of bolts and its out.
2.
3.
4. I used plastic loom for the pump wires. And yes I did re position pipe clamps after photo. I wanted to wait for the hose to cool down from heating it up to make an easy fit. Also I used a pink teflon tape. Apparently it was alittle bit thicker than the normal white.
5. I was concerned of the height of the pumps in relation to the height of the elbow connected to the thru hull. I used a couple of the pump brackets. On one pump I turned the bracket sideways and screwed into the stringer, and on the other pump I screwed the bracket into a 90° elbow to keep pumps and manifold abit higher.
6.
7. This pump is for the 2 bow sacs. I hope the location doesnt effect my speedo. The thru hull is locate about 2" over to the side and if it does I guess the Garmin GPS gets mounted on the dash.
8.
9.
10. The Wakemaker hose slipped on this check valve very very easy. I was not sure about using 3M 4000 as I had concern the adhesive might break down vinvly hose so I am trying double clamps. Hope it doesnt leak.
Thats it for now.
This weekend I hope to have time to put bags in, empty pumps and discharge lines and vents,
