    help! Need Ballast

I just bought a 2010 Tige 22ve. Love the boat. It is sweet. I have the pro ballast option and the Tige touch screen controls. I am not happy with the wake though and need help. After reading many posts on the internet about this, its seems that what I need is to replace my 350lb sack with a bigger sack in the corners. With only 600lbs on the corner, the wake is too small and we cant get any push.

Can someone help me that has good experience with the 22ve?

If I need 1200 lbs bags, then do I also need better pumps to fill?

Welcome to the site. Post some pics of your boat.

One thing that you can do is add the custom sacs (their custom to the space on Ve's / RZ's), approximately 1100 lbs, and plumb them into your existing system. Give Chpthril a PM and he can set you up. When you talked about push I am assuming that you are looking for a wave for surfing.

yes. I am looking for a better wake for surfing. Adding custom sacks sounds like what I need to do. Not happy about spending more money to do that though. They seem like a chunk of change. Where is a good place to purchase?

            agl,

As noted above, I do have a custom sac that is a plug'n-play swap out for the OEM surf/pro sac.

Adding new pumps/plumbing is not needed, but the larger sac does add about 6-8 minutes to the fill time.

Shoot me an email and I can get you some additional info.

              22ve ballast

              Thanks, guys.

So it does look like their is a plug and play bag that I could just swap out with my stock 350lb bags.
If I could do that with a 1,000# bag, that would give me 1,250lb in the rear corner. I am sure that that would give me the wake that we need along with the TAPS.

I put the 750lb bag in my RZ2 over the 250lb factory tanks. All plumbed to work with the Tige touch. Rode with it yesterday for the first time, wake was insane. The reason I did the 750 rather than the 1100 is the built in cooler. Do you have one in your boat?

I had 2 x 22ve's. My 09 boat was fitted with surf ballast and we were able to surf no worries with that ballast. I used to run the entire side rear corner you were surfing full. Port side 10.2mph with taps on 7 or 8. Stbrd side 10mph taps on 6. The stbrd side was a longer fuller wave while the port side was much steeper. I could surf with just the wife and I out in the boat no worries. I did purchase the upgrade sacs from chpthrill and the wake was insane, well worth the upgrade. Just have a play with speed and taps with the rear corner full and it should be sweet. I know the rz like a bit up the front, but it used to kill the wave on my ve whenever I tried it. Hop this helps

I am all for more ballast to optimize the wave. But the stock config is surfable and should provide adequate push. The original post does not describe how long your crew has surfed -- but if less than a full season of ropeless surfing, you may find that over time, what one thinks of as too little push evolves into adequate or good push.

Again, bag upgrades lead to excellent waves in turn leading to even more fun. But stock configs are surfable.

Thanks all for the info. I am going to order those custom sacks from Chpthrl. Sounds like it will be an easy switch out. I am excited to see what happens.

I will post the results in a week.

OK, so I ordered and received my custom enzo sacks from Mike. Sacks fill about: Port=1,100-1,200#. Starboard=900-1,000#. Changing them out was very easy. Just unpluged old sacks and pluged in the new ones. It took me several trips to get the confidence to fill them up all the way. It really feels weird to add that much weight at first. I am now getting comfortable and doing a lot of testing. Yesterday, went out and we got a good wake on Starboard, but not very good on Port yet. Here are some pics going about 11-13mph. My speedO was not working yesterday.
