Can thruhull intakes be in line with each other?

I know we try to keep the intake thruhulls from being in front of the engine raw water intake (less important) and speedo sensor (VERY important). Can we have two mushroom intake thruhulls inline with each other? Can both pumps successfully operate in that configuration? One of the near-v-drive arrangements I'm looking at could put two intakes inline with each other, and I don't know whether that's a good idea or not. Anyone have experience with this?

    Thanks!

Not sure it's that important really... I would never fill ballast while underway unless it was a 5mph no wake zone...
      Waiting for another good one!

I don't think it would matter to be honest.

That's sort of the question: If it CAN be done, what spacing is required for reliability?

Just try it out and see if it works or not. If it doesn't, call up BP and have them "plug the hole"!

            j/k!

I don't think it will interfere with your water intake, it's got a scoop on there. I would give it a little bit of space so you don't weaken the hull too much, but I think if you properly seal the intake with 5200, it'll be plenty strong. How far apart are you thinking?

With mushroom intakes it won't matter, only if you need scoops for some other raw water intake.

I'm not worried about it interfering with the engine intake. The combination of scoop and impeller pump there makes it no big deal.

I'm concerned about one ballast mushroom thruhull interfering with another one directly behind it (a few inches, for strength as you point out). If the leading one causes turbulence/etc., I'm concerned it could make it difficult for the trailing one to prime/flow properly.
