Pulled from storage, ready to start ballast install...

My 2009 24Ve is out of storage and I'm starting my various projects on it.

Regarding intake pump location, here is a photo of where the factory puts them:

The blue tapes are in line with the triducer (left side of photo) and the engine raw water intake (right side).

The area under the floor at the bottom of the photo has about nine inches of vertical clearance near the keel line, so I'm not sure there is sufficient height to mount pumps under the floor. I also worry about mounting them too close to that rotating part on the front of the v-drive.

Therefore, it looks like they would have to be near the blue tape lines. Trouble is, "tribal lore" suggests it's not a good idea to mount intakes in front of either the triducer nor the engine water intake.

    1) It seems like it would be better to be near the engine intake, since it draws a vacuum whereas the triducer is an entirely passive device. True?

    2) How far to the side of the "straight line in front of the triducer/intake" is far enough to avoid interference?

    3) If I have to go on the triducer side, and it causes problems with the paddlewheel, can a 2009-era SpeedSet be updated to use a GPS?

Any other observations or recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

For reference, here is a photo of where the factory puts their pumps. Note how close they get to the fuel tank; that would put at least one and possibly two under my floor, where I have only nine inches of clearance at best.
