    Pump location

    Hi Guys and Gals,

Here is a plan for rear ballast that I am thinking of doing. I will be using the Johnson Ultra Ballast Reversible Pumps.

The problem is my in-decision on:

#1 where to have the thru-hull connectors,

#2 where should I mount the pumps. (I will need 3 of these pumps for 3 fat sacs).

#3 I have seen some installs with the thru hull fitting in the transom. Although you have to watch your speed when filling it looks like it would be easy to install the thru-hulls there. ??

    #4 Can I run 2 pumps off of 1 thru-hull?

Here are some pics of the engine area. All help is appreciated,

    1.

Lots of places/room for a bottom thru-hull pickup

'bout anywhere you want. Closer the the source the better, but it not as huge a deal. Although these pumps are self-priming, the do like to pump better then suck.

That might be a tough job on your V-drive But maybe there is plenty of room on yours, I cant remember.

A 1.25" pickup and manifold will support 3 pumps

I would recommend a check-valve in the vent. It allows the sac to "raisin" and this aids in the draining.

G, how did the reversed scoop work for you? Did it cause you any problems when trying to fill on the fly?

No problems.... you have to do it this way or you will force feed your ballast all the time.

Would a 3/4" intake be ok for 2 pumps??
