The angled intake costs about 10% open flow. However, it might yield some mounting options if vertical clearance is limited. I'm thinking about where Tige mounts the factory pumps; the space between the floor and the hull there is so tight that on Ewok's RZ2 one of the pumps actually felt like it was being pressed upon by the floor. An angled intake might permit trading horizontal for vertical clearance without adding fittings and joints.
The pump cartridge (motor) is the same. The pipe fittings are the same. It just looks like they tilted the intake over.
