Jbort's Custom Ballast Upgrade

We have an 07 24ve with factory ballast and are in the process of deciding how to get more ballast in the boat. One option I think will work well if I can give the batteries enough support, is to move the port side batteries to sit on top of the port factory transom ballast. To do this I would have to engineer a platform that would carry most of the battery weight so as to not damage the hard factory tank. If I can work this out I would then move the TAPS pump to the top of the starboard factory tank. In both cases I would have to put a 90 degree fitting on the tank fill port and move the pumps to the top of the tanks as well. This would preserve the factory ballast which actually makes pretty good use of the space along the transom and open up both lockers to max out the space for a custom sac.
I am pretty sure we are not up for removing the locker floor boards to make more room, unless someone can convince me otherwise, so the above plan would be the best use of space as far as I can tell (if it is possible especially
on the port side with the weight of the batteries above the hard tank).
I would appreciate any feedback on this idea. And, if there are other ways I would love to hear about it. Maybe in the end we will settle on the easiest option of the double L custom sac that fits over the battery and taps boxes. My concern here is not getting the most weight back there that we can. From what I hear those double L sacs are rated in the 1000 pound range but I have a hard time believing that given the limited space in the locker and underneath the side seats. I am all ears.

Zad,
Given the shape of the transom, the height of a battery and the height of the ballast tank, its would be tough to get a battery up there. The pump you see attached at the tank, is the drain pump. It cannot be relocated to the top of the tank. It has to stay close and below the water line of the tank.
That boat does not have any cavity below the locker floor and the the floor is not a removable section.
Keep in mind, that on the port side, you will gave 80+ lbs of battery weight, if you leave them in place. There is not that kind of weight on the stbd side, but in both cases, you still have the 250 lb hard tank left in place.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

Sad, I kept my hard tanks in my 2008 22Ve. I could not fit my batteries above the tanks, so I relocated them to the cooler location. That cooler was not much use to me. I have my ballast installation thread somewhere here.
It will be much easier to delete the stock tanks. But if you are determined to keep them, it can be done. I am not sure of a sac that fits over the batteries but I guess it can be done.

After much pretzeling I managed to get the batteries on top of the port factory hard tank (and rewired too), it was tight but very doable. On the port side I moved the blower to just above the water pump and the taps pump on top of the starboard ballast tank. You can check out photos on "another twist on 24ve ballast." Time will tell if the weight of the batteries damages the tank...spoke to tech support at Tige and they thought the tanks would be plenty strong enough. We shall see, perhaps I will be on here in a few months shopping for a replacement starboard ballast tank.
