Where do you put the intakes and pumps on a 24Ve?

    Kept digging after I posted and finally found Tsunami specs on page 12 here:

    The T1200 (model 4661-1) body is four inches high (top of body down to top of inlet threads). For comparison, the Rule 405FC body is 5.87 inches. Theoretically, then, the T1200 is 1.87 inches shorter because it doesn't have the 405FC's secondary port.

    Your 11 inch overall measurement, minus that 1.87 inches, is getting pretty close to the nine inches I need to fit under my floor. Your number includes a "virgin" thruhull... any idea how much you can typically cut down for a Tige hull install?

      You should (I really should use the word can here, but I know people will argue) only cut down a thru-hull if it is NPS thread, and if that's the case then you would need to use a seacock to adapt NPS thread to NPT for your ball valve, which is going to be WAY too tall.

      Don't forget to account for the fact that you'll need to use an adapter of some kind for the 1200GPH Tsunami, because the thread pattern on the inlet is proprietary.

        The factory spot is the best place for access and function. Its a fact... Get it fact ory! ha ha I crack my self up. Just put them there and be done with it.

          That's where I'm trying to put them, literally right NOW. But I measure only about nine inches of vertical clearance there, from the inside surface of the hull to the underside of the floor. I think Tige gets away with that because they use plastic ball valves. The photos posted here by Chpthril that use brass valves show a much taller stack of parts. I want to do it his way, but there's simply no chance his configuration will fit in the factory location on my 24Ve.

          I'm researching other pump styles, trying to find something shorter. So far the non-dual-port Tsunamis are about an inch and a half shorter than the Rule 405's with their dual ports, so there may be a possibility there. I'd be stuck with the T800 version, though, since adapting the T1200's weirdo threads would require an adapter that adds height.

          It turns out that Rule USED to make the 405 style pumps in a single port version - nice and short. But they discontinued those in favor of the dual port versions. Growl.

              Put in a 90 or 45 to lay the pump at an angle or horizontal.

                Definitely considering it. Might make it tight to put more than two pumps in that space, though (I need a third for a bow sac).

                  Question: If I go the 45 or 90 route, how important is it that the elbow be removable from the thruhull? I have a possible location but due to interference with the trailer bunks the thruhull would be right next to an interior wall. The thruhull would have to be inserted through the hull, tightened into the elbow, and THEN sealed and screwed to the hull. The elbow would thus be "trapped", unable to spin off the thruhull, unless the thruhull were first loosened from the hull.

                  I wouldn't do that with a valve, but what about an elbow? Not much to go wrong there. Reasonable compromise in a tough situation? Bad idea no matter what? I'm especially interested in chpthril's opinion.
