Bringing this thread back from the dead. Any input or thoughts on the Enzo vs. custom and what everyone went with in their 21v? I am having a similar debate - not sure what to go with. I would measure my compartment but the boat is in storage until the ice melts which could be a while. Any info would be appreciated.

I would go custom or go with two sacs. Are you going to automate the filling? A guy on my lake has a 23v and he runs a 1100 in the rear corner and like a 250 or so under the seat and he gets a great wave out of it. I think the spray pockets make the boat need less weight to make a great wave. I always tinker with the idea of selling my 24v and building a budget badas* surf boat out of a 23v.

Does his 23v have spray pockets? I have seemed to get a better wave with more weight - especially along the port side under the seat. If it is all in the back corner it can get a little ugly.

Custom all the way! Stuff that locker with as much as it will hold. I have a custom bag from Chpthril which holds a theroetical 1469lbs and for the very small price difference from any off the shelf solution its worth every penny. You can always put less water in the bag if you want My crew and I are stoked on my budget 2300v wave. Super easy to weight (I agree you get more wave for less weight) and makes a solid wave on both sides. I did reinforce my engine compartment dividers as they were pushed in by the bag. My storage lockers get wider at the top so always use the largest measurements you take. Surf season is sooo close yet so far away... sigh.
Duffy... From the pics I have seen I think I would keep your bad*ss 24v wave

Just out of curiosity does your 2300v have spray pockets? A lot of people have said less weight with then but I have had more luck with more weight, especially on the port side seat. I am thinking the custom sac will be my best bet.

I plan to automate it with a reversible pump so I would like to keep it to one bag.

Yes, I have spray pockets. I think there is confusion as to the "less weight" discussion. I still completely fill the rear locker and under the seat of the surf side. I also add some bow weight and a very small amount of off side in the rear locker sometimes. My boat does not seem to want a tremendous amount of bow weight like the newer hulls. I think the point is that these hulls do not need to have 3-5000 lbs on board to produce a really nice wave where many of the modern hulls of this size (mine is 23'-6") now days seem to want that much. I always run the same amount of weight and have a good wave if there is 1 passenger or 10. When loaded with people I do start to consider where they sit but otherwise am not finicky about it. The best part is that all the ballast is totally hidden. As always... your mileage may vary

I agree. I have always had luck with your same type of setup. I have tried a lot of bow weight but it really never does me any good. A couple hundred pounds up there and I am set. I am excited to dig into the project of automating everything. I am planning on getting the custom sac plumbed in this season. Then possibly a bow sac next season.

Any tips or tricks to get the most out of a custom sac? Any do's/don't do/things added/things removed you would recommend? I was planning on talking to chpthril again in regards to getting everything I need but I figured I would pick the brain of others before doing so. Are check valves needed before or after the reversible pump to prevent water from leaking back out the intake? Location of the through hull intake?

Getting ready to outfit my 2001 2100v LTD... great post here.. trying to find all the threads I can on this... Any one have a great wave behind their 2001 tige that they would like to share what their ballast set up is?
