Z1 Custom fly high Bow Sacs

    I was searching wakemakers and found these;
    http://www.wakemakers.com/fly-high-p...m-bag-005.html

I wonder how they would fit in my 22ve? I could ditch the v-shape bow sack!

    It's .5 of a w711 Integrated Bow sac. What's the advantage?

I thought they were 400 lbs each. For surfing I wanted weight just on the one side. I have filled the W711 after the back was weighted and the wake was better when I had a W701 on the seats.

That is interesting. I didn't see the weight listed on the website and I am assuming that there would be two of those longer sacs in the purchase right? I have the fly high integrated bow sac in my z1 and it only fills about 300 of the 700lbs it is rated for.

I kind of agree with chpthril with "what's the advantage"

Also, in the Z1 if you have the 400lb sacs in the back and have filled all the way up and the front filled all the way full then you will be pointing for the sky when you try to wakeboard. The z1 really likes more front weight (60/40). I bought the fly high side sacs, one for the walkway upfront and then I use the other one under a back seat when I surf. Works nice, just an extra sac to fill.

scarface, let me know how those sacs work for you.

Get the Fly High side sacs. I think they are 260lbs each. it will help put a little extra weight to the side you want to surf on. Also, use the other up front in the walk way at all times .

There are a couple pics of my surf wake on the Boat/Picture thread. I just posted them a couple of days ago so look at the last couple of pages. Let me know what you think scrface.

IMO, No! I wouldn't worry about 2K in a Tige

Those of you that are either using these custom half bow sacs or a pair side sacs, I would to get some feed back on how it works out. I would love to know how the wake changes between filling one sac on the surf side in comparison to the wake when both sacs are filled, which would be equal to the factory bow sac or the Fly High W711 Integrated bow sac.

In my mind, I dont see that just having bow weight on the surf side would improve the wake over having the entire under-seat storage ballast filled.

I know those half sacs are advertised at 400lbs ea, but I just dont see them filling any where close to that in the bow of a Z1.

I agree with CHP. There is no way those will fill up all of the way. That would make it 800lbs and I can only fill my integrated up to 300 or 350ish. I don't know where you would get the extra space with the two sacs instead of one.

I do like having the side sacs and I can tell a big difference with having one of the sacs on the side that we are surfing on. I do empty the opposite v-drive sac when I surf. I know some people keep it filled, but I have seen a better wake with it empty.

While for the RZ2, I think Ragboy has reported that surf side bow wake has a pronounced and increased effect on the surf wake over the integrated.

An off season project for me will be removing the u-shaped ballast sack and replacing with two sacks, one for each side.

Chpthril, any suggestions you have for suitable sacks will be appreciated (as I will be buying from you ). I know several other pre-2010 RZ owners on TO are interested as well. So perhaps a custom solution is not off the table.

Good info, hopefully we can get Ragboy over here to elaborate.

What would be good to know is if the wake is better with just half (lets say 250lbs) filled on the bow surf side V's the whole sac (500 lbs). Then the next thing would be to figure out whether it's the amount of weight or it's placement. Meaning, 500lbs is the magic number, but has the best effect when it's all on the surf side of the bow.

For you guys with the RZ's, you have more options then the V and Ve guys. The Mastercraft bow sac is larger then the W711, but if my info is correct, its an open sac like the W711. I dont see why a pair of V-drives wouldnt work, they may not fill to the full 400lbs, but may be more then a single leg of the W711 (which actually cant be filled).

I have a used set of V-drives if someone wants to do the testing!

For those with the Ve's, I have suggested before to cut out the bulkhead between the mid-ship storage and the bow storage to let the W711 stretch all the way out. So far, no one has had the stones to do it This is now what Tige is doing for the 2010/2011 boats.

Will the fittings plug and play with the stock 2009 RZ2 fittings? If so, I would be glad to test it out.
