    2005 22i wake surfing

Hey anyone ever surfed off a direct drive 22i? Did you use ballast? if so how much? we tried last year with just the taps and people weight, but couldnt go to far w/o sinking, any advice?

Did you put all the peeps in the rear end? Try to have some weight up front too. I would imagine that the 22i would be surfable based on the bit of wake testing I have done (I have fat friends and am pretty fat myself)

I had roughly 600lbs in the rear, 200 on the step through seat and 225 in the front seat. The wake was purdy massive and long.

i have an 06 22 i, can surf behind it but like jwanck11 said, need to put people on the correct side, side the person is surfing on. One time I had only 4 people including myself and it didn't work too well. Need at least 6 people including yourself.

We wakesurf all the time everyone on the left and i fill up a 400 pound V-drive sac in the back left locker.

I have a 2005 22i. No ballast unfortunately, but I do surf all the time with only 2 people in the boat. The wake is really short and I have to be right close to the swim platform. I have a Retide board and I'm at 240 lbs. It can be done.

It can be surfed with no ballast but like b/w05 said you are right on the swim platform and you can’t really maneuver very much. The more weight you use the bigger and longer it gets. Because it is a DD and has taps I would just try to put most of the weight in the back corner of what ever side you ride on and use the taps to keep the nose down. I have noticed it makes a better wake when the taps is on a lower number. Like 2-4

All I do is surf on mine but it's old. 300 in the trunk and 5-600 on the side. TAPS at 8.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I have the same boat...no ballast. Can't surf without the rope even with a couple of 200lb guys in the boat on surf side. Best wake I can get is going 11 mpg with Taps on 2...higher taps or slower speed washes out the wake. Was thinking about buying some ballast for the back locker. What fits in that? 400lbs? Let me know if that is what works for you...wouldn't want to buy and then still not be able drop the rope.
