    2008 RZ2

I upgraded my ballast bags. From rear factory tanks and some fat sacs to custom sacs. Removed the hard tanks. Now Port approx 1100 lbs and Starboard 850lbs. Went out yesterday for some surfing and was very disappointed with the wave. A lot of white wash. I believe maybe to issue is the surf device was now way too low due to the weight. Also had 7 people in the boat, normally only 3-4.

I started to remove weight in the bags and the wave started to clean up.

Should the surf device just barely be below water to create the disturbance? I am using a Mission Delta.

We used to use ours just below the water level. You will want to play with the placement forward and aft bc that can also influence the wave. On the 24 we had I found that I didn’t always want it all the way aft.

    congrats on the upgrade.

Were you running evenly weighted or listed? On my VE I believe for the best results you list hard and run a suck gate. For my it's about 16" from the rear on the lowest step and angled down. Some like all the way to the rear so you'll have to play with that. I keep it forward as it then sends the spray from the suckgate straight back rather than across the surfside wave.

While running start dumping your off side weight until the surf side wave cleans up. The more you dump the more the line will disappear.

What was your speed? I find 10.8 is too slow. Try around 11.4 mph taps 3-4.
