Wakesurfing: I run my 2008 Z1 at 10.4 mph and TAPS at 6, with 350 lbs in bow and 350 lbs in riders rear locker.
Wakeboarding: I run at 22 mph and TAPS at 4, with 350 lbs in bow and 350 in both rear lockers. The boat actually does a good job without and ballast for wakeboarding. Good luck

Sweet boat! Looks like my color scheme so I am definitely partial to it!!!
Do you have the factory ballast?

When I go boarding front sacs full taps 3-4 and 21-22 for more experienced riders with 4-6 people in boat.

Surfing-I am still learning as well.

Nharp - that surf wake in your link is awesome, I need to figure that out!

I have my wave dialed in choice. The Z1 likes a weight split of 60% front 40% rear. I fill my rear sac (on the side i'm riding of course) which is 400 lbs, then I fill my front integrated bow sac which I estimate is ~ 300 lbs with the small bow, and I rock two more fat bricks on the seats, another ~300 lbs, and lean them on the side you are riding. Put all your people on the one side of the boat you are riding on, and if you only have 1-2 besides the driver, I throw another v-drive sac on the seats. The wave is great even with the setup I stated minus the extra v-drive sac, but its insane when you add the sac. I drive 12-12.6 mph and taps 5-6.

For wakeboarding I keep my rear sacs half full at most while wakeboarding and fill my integrated bow sac full (~300 lbs with the small bow) and either throw two more fat bricks on the bow seats or a v drive sac in the walk way. 65' back cleans up around 23 mph, and I keep the taps low around 2-3. But putting the majority of the weight in the front and center of the boat is key. I think the Z1 (maybe its all tiges) puts out a wider wake too. I ride at 65' and my buddy who rides in the outlaw division will ride that or 70'.

It has the factory surf package. Still haven't got it out on the water yet but i am this weekend. I will see how my sons like the wake and go on from their.

Here is a video of my wave, nevermind the beer drinking part of it....

I think if you weight the rear too much you'll get a tall short wave and not have room to work in. Notice how mine is a steep wave but long as well

A lot of good info in this thread! Has anyone in here put 350-400lb ballast bags on top of the factory ballast tanks in an 09 z1? In another post, some say they think it would be fine but I'd love to hear from someone that they've actually done it before I do. I don't want to have to tear out a broken tank!

I put a 400lb sac on top of my port hard tank this winter, I have not got the boat out yet to try it but the way I plumbed it in is that it will first fill the lower hard tank and then the upper additional sac and it will drain vice versa. as long as the hard tank is full I believe it will accomadate the extra weight of the sac.
But I'll let you know in a month for sure

At the moment I just fill the front and rear tanks on the side we're going to surf and put 1-2 people in that side as well, Set the speed to 10.2 and TAPS to 8. Don't have any extra ballast yet. Here's proof you don't need heaps of weight you just need a Tige.
