2015 Z1 Ballast Help

Just bought a 2015 Z1 and I have two questions.
#1,All seems great, only issue is that the ballasts do not seem to fully empty. The display will say 0% but if I hit the drain all button water will come out still. Also, even after no water comes out there is still some water in the rear bags. I cant get to the front bags to see or feel if they still have water in them.
#2, Are the rear ballast compartments supposed to be totally dry or is there always a little water leakage that is acceptable?

The ballast percentage is all timer based, so it doesn’t know how much water is in there, just how long the fill and drain pumps run. When I’m emptying for the end of the day, I’ll run my Taps plate at 8, and like 20mph, and hit the empty button, and also run my bilge pump, a couple of times. That’s been the best way to get almost all of the water out for me.

My bilge always has water in it, at the end of a surf day. Sometimes a fairly significant amount. I’ve personally just learned to live with it, although it seems to vary by individual boat. My ballast system always seems to have some minor leaks, I get water into my surf locker, rookie drivers never listen when I tell them how to pick a rider up, and take waves over the bow every single damn time.

Dry boat? Would not expect it. With swimmers getting in and out, board, tubes etc, there will always be water somewhere. Leaking ballast? No.

Thank you both for the info, it helps a new guy. If the boat is out of water on a trailer, can I use an incline or decline and run ballast empty mode to pump more water out or do I need to disconnect and drain manually somehow? I can tell they did not empty properly and I don't want to drive with extra weight to service center. First ballast boat so I am new to the workings of the system. Thanks

You can definitely help your cause draining on an incline. There are a couple of pretty steep loading docks at casinos here, and a couple of neighborhood roads that I’ll use for that kind of stuff. Pretty much the steeper the better.

All good man!! Good luck with it. I towed mine from Boise to Reno, in the snow, with who knows how much ballast in it, because the guy I bought it from didn’t realize some of that stuff. It’s all a learning curve. There are some guys with serious knowledge around here, and have helped me with a ton of stuff.
