Hey guys, not sure why, but it is really hard to find much info on the R20. It is like the red headed step child that no one claimed lol. Anyways, I am enjoying my new boat, however, the surf wave has left some to be desired. I have tried 60% front 100% rear with both taps set to 3 and 4. I have messed with front weight and not getting a huge amount of change. My issue is the wave doesn’t get real tall and it seems washed out. I can get enough push out of it but just not the best wave. Does anyone have any advice? Also, I have looked for aftermarket bags bug WakeMAKERS doesn’t even list replacements for the R20 just the rzx. I also have two other questions, one, if you get larger bags does your balllast sensors still work telling you how full your getting? And lastly, does anyone else have a problem when first being towed the wave does not develop until a minute after getting to speed? I’ve never surged behind a boat where you have to fight through the wash out before the wave develops. Just trying to learn more about this thing and hope others have experience. Thanks guys!

Thanks guys. So if I put larger rear bags in will my screen controls still work the same? Such as the full and drain levels? Just curious how the gauge sensors work. Also, with taps3 is it supposed to take a minute to form the wave when your pulled out of water? It’s like I have to pull through white water rapids until the boat hits cruise speed then the wave finally forms

The ballast gauges are controlled with a timer algorithm, and can be calibrated IIRC. I also believe the TAPS-3 retracts when under surf speed, so it has to redeploy when back underway. Id check with my dealer to make sure the system has the latest and greatest updates. I do not think the 2019's had the actuator glitches that past TAPS=3 boats did, but I would not presume them to be fully functioning. Worth inspecting their travel.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

How would I inspect their travel if they only deploy at surf speed? I apologize if that’s a dumb question. So Your saying the gauges only speculate how full or empty a bag is by a timer and formula? So there is a way to push back the timer to tell? I guess you would probably just mess with the timer numbers until it reads full at the same time it starts coming out the overflow?

Go into your settings and find the ballast settings. You’ll see default times to fill and drain the bow and aft tanks. The computer uses these times to compute percentages. They likely default to like 6 minutes which in my boat is close but not long enough for the aft especially so I would change all of these to at least 10 minutes and start a timer and time the fill to spill for the bow and aft tanks. Aft tanks take longer since they are larger. Then drain the tanks and time that as well. Once you have the times to fill and drain then adjust the settings to match.
Just a thought. You may not have actually had your tanks 100% full if the pumps were shutting off before the tanks were overfilling which would definitely effect your wave.
I’m trying to figure out my times and what people do because the only way to know a tank or bag is truly 100% full is to fill to spill. So I want my timer to shut off soon after that happens, but not too long after it happens or before it happens or the percentages will be off. I think next time I’m on the boat I’ll time again and add 15 seconds to the fill and drain times and change the settings.
I’d love to hear what other people’s techniques and times are.
For reference my fill times are 5:21 for bow and 8:50 for aft.

There is a dealer mode to activate the TAPS-3 out of the water, but you need to know what you are looking for.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More
