Here it shows how I cut mine down, I use a nauticurl and surf from 11.5-12.5 and taps from 3-5, depending on the crew etc...
Duffy - Would you mind to share a quick rundown of your ballast setup for the 24V?

Run it on the bottom flat step at a slight angle down to minimize splash. They do best when under water at least 6” IMO.
You can also move it forward or backward to change the wave to your liking. 50DA6939-CABB-4B96-BCB3-838ED44366BC.png

Rear, surf side full (1,800) ish pounds
Rear, off side half full (900) ish

Front full, dual 450s, probably only get half full, so maybe 400-600 pounds.

I dump offside weight till the wave is clean. I surfing 12.2-12.5 90% of the time. Taps at 3-4. Nauticurl lowest and furthest back I can put it.

Where did you get the 1800s from?
Which version of Nauticurl? Went to their website and saw a few choices...

I picked up a 2005 22v last year and am constantly evolving my setup. 99% time we surf regular side. Most of our surfing has been with a light crew.

1150 lbs surf side rear locker(enzo sack) weight based on dimensions and 9 min 15 sec fill time with ballast king pump.

250 lbs bow sac based on fill time ballast puppy 3 min

We started off at surf speed of 10.8mph but quickly moved to 11.5-12.2mph (gps) we have surfed up to 13.5mph.

Last year I tried using a DIY suckgate, the "2x8 gate" that was at a 45 degree angle and protuded from the boat 10". The stock prop struggled so I cut it down to 6" high but added another 2x8 on top to go around the step in the hull. This showed nice improvement in the wave and the stock prop was fine. I tried moving the suckgate all the way back and to midship. I found I liked it best with the lead edge of the gate at the forward most part of the "v" decal about 2' from the stern.

This year I got a 1617 prop. The original gate went back to 10" high, I have another gate on top of it that is 9" high. I also run a 2x6 gate 8" high under the "T" in Tige midship.

I have been adding in off side rear weight. I fill til the bag is 10" high then dump water til it cleans up.

Duffy a few questions for you...
Are you still running a 2133 prop? Did you ever try a 1617 or 2571?
What are you using for valves to stop passive draining?
Are you still running the flap? What did this help the most?
Have you ridden behind newer boats? How do you feel your wave compares?

                2005 Tige 22v
Still using the old 5 blade stump puller! Works great. I honestly can't remember all the props I tried, sorry. But my rpms are low for surfing (2900-31000. Which is my goal for clean wave and also ease on the motor. Holds speed well and the boat is happy.

Still using valves, I have electric solenoid valves for my two large rear sacks.

Yes on the flap, actually hundreds of people are rocking them now, lots of MB, centurion, Tige are using them. I get 1-2 messages a month about building one.

I have ridden behind pretty much all new boats outside of a new moomba and newest supra. My wave is still yet to be beat. A lot of them had extra ballast and even factory setup competition waves. I had the regional sales director for a major boat company (top 3) behind my boat and he surfed, his jaw dropped. That being said, I would still buy a new boat in a heartbeat. I care less about having the best wave, most of these new boats throw a pretty darn great wave. The new fit and finish and how simple the wave is, is pretty nice. The only thing I dislike is some of these boats are turning massive motors and rpms for surfing.

If I was to buy a new boat I think I would go MB or Moomba.
