    Ballast in 2009 RZ2

Ok I need some help I'm helping out the local Tige dealer and they have been giving me a RZ2 to use on occasion. Question is I need help with the wake. It has the stock balast and the wake has a nice shape and is firm, and is great for most but i want a pro size wake when i ride behind it as well do most the peopel I ride with. I'm used to a SAN 210 with I think about 2700 lbs of weight in it. Riding at 85 feet and about 24.5 MPH. Anyway has anyone dealt with this boat, I just want to know how you weight it and what speed you ride waht length and where TAPS is set.

I think Taps would very depending on how much weight you put in the bow. Then if it’s the stock 900 you should probably put some V-drive sacs in the rear lockers and a sac in the walkway in the bow, but more towards the center of the boat. Depending on what sacs you use that should give you around 1500 more. I think that would be very close to what your looking for.

When adding weight to an RZ2, add it 40% in front and 60% in back. That allows the TAPS plate to function a little bit. As for how much weight? Do what you would and feel comfortable with. Maybe two additional 400 lbs locker sac's and a open bow sac (appx 600lbs).

Make sure you have the correct prop since the standard prop won't get you out of the hole as quickly.

Wake shape and quality is so much personal preference. The RZ can throw a great wake, but it will never be anything like the CC210. These to boats are different in so many ways such as length, width, hull shape, weight, etc. The 210 typically throws a fairly steep wake, where as the Tige has more ramp. Matching the height is no problem, just ad weight like you do in the 210. That RZ will probably like more weight up front then the 210, almost a 60/40 ft/rr, but at least a 50/50.

Interesting that you say the opposite for weight purposes. IMO, at lower speeds (15-19 mph), I agree with the 60/40 ft/rr but the OP says he is goint 24+ mph. I have the 40/60 ft/rr with lead and at 19.5 mph, it's nice and clean at TAPS2 and the faster I go, the more TAPS I can use.

But interesting to say the least.

ok well I have some old fat sacs the big ones, they are too long for the rear storage, but I put them in this weekend a filled them up as much as i could, a little over halfway so close to 400 lbs each probably and then a tube sac about 3/4 full in the walk way, the wake was a good size, but had a real hard time keeping it consistent. there wqere 3 adults in the boat. The toeside (starboard side) wake never got right no matter what, it seemed to be weird, could never figure it out. Cutting in toeside the wake went to mush before I got there. On any other boat I know how to fix it but I'm new to Tige's and just couldn't figure it out. I know how to weight a boat, I've ridden behind everything but this is my first Tige'. I had the ballast full TAPS at 5-6 riding at 24.8 MPH and 85 foot line. Just thought maybe someone that had the boat knew exactly how they weighted it and it would save me time since I don't get to ride behind it alot and don't want to spend the time I do to be figuring out how to weight it.

The perfect wake is like the perfect woman.......everybody's got a different idea of what one is. And there's not to many I wouldn't ride either way

Here is what I run weight wise in mine. We usually have another 3-5 adults on board too. Most people I ride with are in the 22 - 23.8 mph range and 65-80ft line length. When I start I put TAPS at 1 to get out of the whole quicker and once on plane I set it at 5.

Occasionally I will have 6-8 adults on board and we will have to speed up a hair but the wake just gets better. The wake shape goes from ramp to a straight vert at the top of the wake.

I have never towed anyone past 80ft since the wakes on Tiges are very wide.

                Hopefully this helps.

This is a great setup. You can even bump it a bit by putting a 750 in the walkway instead of the 550 that Matt has shown. From there, you're gonna need to add some peeps. But it's gonna be huge.
