Charlie's childhood nickname was Tiger. They dropped the R and added the accent for some "european flair", that supposedly went along w/ the flowing lines of the Tige.
Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... I am perpetually vexed w/ the conundrum of who to hate more. Obama or the Univ. of Saxet.

Or, if you're on a Mac "Option+E" then type e.

            zad0030:

            2. What is the origin of the name “Tigé”?
During the early 1990s Tigé looked to differentiate itself by creating a one-of-a-kind name that embodied quality, performance and uniqueness – qualities inherent to the Tigé product. The decision was made to base the name on the word Tiger, the childhood nickname of the company’s founder, Charlie Pigeon. By dropping the “r” and adding an accent over the “é”, the name originated with a European flair that complimented the flowing, euro-design of the company’s first boat models and further differentiated the brand from the competition.

That's great. The european flair (french) meaning of tige = stem.

Tigé is the proper way to accent the "é"
