The email has been sent with pictures from this site of various wake surfers. I requested his opinion in a reply email. When I get that reply, I am going to print it out, laminate it, and put it right next to my boat registration. If I do get pulled over, I will make sure that they see it.
I would love a copy of the email so I can take it to Powell as well.
Thanks!

Nice work, dude.
If you can forward the email to me as well, I would appreciate it.
I don't think we are in too much trouble as long as we do not act like smart arses to the water cops. They generally get defensive when we get defensive. I think a little education about where the CO is will make sense to the water cops.
To my knowledge, there has not been a single death attributed to wakesurfing yet. I have seen it behind an I/O at Powell, so I am sure one is coming...but so far so good.
I here they are putting the squeeze on wakesurfing there Something about 20' from the boat?
I just heard the same thing about Lake Mead. Obviously started by some government guy who does not know the difference. As I said, we need to pour out some educational information here.
LP,
Can I get the phone number to those guys at Powell? How about posting their email address and we can flood them with a 'Wakesurfing is safe' campaign.
I can get you his phone number, I want to wait and see how he replies. He might not want his email out there for everyone, but then again I'm sure that it isn't hard to find either. I left it at work, so I will try to get that to you also.
Back on topic. Only 2.5 feet to go. Tall, it looks like you will be able to take a chance at it. You need to call while you are out there and let us know how it is. If you call towards the end of the week, we can tell you how much it has risen while you've been out there.
I just got off of the phone with two people at Lake Powell the first was a Brent McGinn, Chief Ranger and the second was his boss, Eric Scott, Downlake District Ranger... I will be going directly to this guy's office to fight it.
I need to get my wife to lake Powell this year if I can. Anyone know a reasonable priced house boat. I figure if I make it a nice trip with a house boat that gives here some privacy and space to get away from the rush of playing all day, and a clean shower each day she will be more willing to go again and she will find it enjoyable. Any help or ideas from those that have dealt with the same situations.

Good deals are to be had after peak season. I booked 10/15 and got a house boat that normally runs 5500 for 4500 with 300 in fuel credit.
There is nothing better than being out in the middle of Padre Bay using your REI biodegradable soap and your boat shower to clean off.
Larry,
I was noticing the lake is literally within a foot of goal but the water temps are 5-7 degrees colder than the past few years. I guess there is a price to pay for all that extra run-off, eh.

I just spoke to the ranger's office at lake powell, they said that the water is just about ready to merge together, but that the cutoff won't be open for another couple of weeks as they are saying that it will need to rise at least another five feet.
So it looks like you won't be able to use the cut-off this trip at all.

5 feet will happen in the next 5 days at the current rate...I wonder what water level they are watching? Maybe it is due for a sudden severe slowdown?
Yesterday it went up 1.02 feet.
Did you talk to them about the problem with citing people for surfing?
