Did you ever figure out what happened or why it crashed?

The first time was due to a bad update from Apple. It wiped out the Ipod and Itunes. We lost everything. Their customer service wanted to charge us to fix a problem with an Ipod that was under warranty that crashed due to thier bad update.

I will never own another Apple product.

You have to remove the DRM or pay the 79points (about 95cents) to use the music without a subscription. If you get a program like MuvAudio, using the subscription service is nice albiet a bit on the illegal side. One other feature that makes a Zune nice is that if you have an XBOX 360, the Zune software allows the 360 to work like a media server for all of the music or movies. It also uses the same points system tied to your live account. Some other features no one knows about are the ability to hack it into accepting other video formats outside of WMV (like DivX). If you are big into peer to peer, I would say the Zune is a better match. If you are big into music purchasing and subscriptions I would go ipod. I don't usually choose mainstream on many things though. I still think Noikia has the best smartphone (better than an iphone) followed by Treo, the original XBOX running XBMC is the best Media center PC available (better than movies on demand or other offerings), XBOX 360 kicks PS3s butt, Zune is a better player, and HD-DVD is a better format. Maybe you shouldn't choose what I do. Everyone uses devices differently, and for me having ipod for my music doesn't work. For my wife, it does.....it is made for the technological challenged, like many other offerings from Apple.

I would look for Zune to continue to step it up a notch, and eventually should play into market pricing and bring down the cost for everyone. It is a shame the same couldn't happen for HD disc.
I am and I Pod guy and we have Nano's and shuffles around the house as well but as for the DRM you can buy music from Amazon now without any DRM or I tunes plus music. I like Amazon better and it will automatically up load the music to your music library of choice. So it will download and put it directly into my ITunes library. Prices are better than I tunes as well. Plus I can now use my purchased music for ringtones or music on my phone or other players or computers with out all of the hassle of Apples encoding.

I like the iPod because I can control it from my HU like a CD changer.

Get whatever is cheaper for what you are getting. Apple is going to raise the price since it says "Apple". What about other MP3 players and video players like:

                iRiver (http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-players/...6.html?tag=pop)
                Creative Zen (http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-players/...0.html?tag=pop)
SanDisk Sanza (http://reviews.cnet.com/portable-vid...-32598271.html)Pro's:Supports a MicroSD slot that you can put up to 12 GB of more storage capacity on top of the current 16 GB that it already has in it.

There are other products out there.

I put that into there but didn't think it was correct so I took it out. Apparently it isn't too early here for me in CA...

My wife and I have a 30 gb video. Hers is starting to cause trouble with the batteries, mine is good as new. I've had a good bit of trouble trying to get older songs from list to list it says"can't find song" which is BS since it's playing on the ipod it's gotta be there.
CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NILL, ZERO, NONEXISTENT!!!!!!!!! F'ING BASTARDS!!!!
I got 2 gift cards $25e each for Xmas and neither one of them works....about 30 emails later thier excuses are f'in and I'm out $50 worth of tunes. F'in bastards.

My daughter has the Zune (she's 11) and she can use it with no issues...it has to be eaiser than the ipod. No problems with hers since Xmas and she's extremely ROUGH with hers. Cross my fingers hope her good luck continues.

Either way you go they beat the heck out of a CD holder and all the changing and skipping with CD's.

Thanks for the heads up. I cannot stand the fact that Itunes restricts what I can do with the song once I buy it. I have used it to get a couple of tones for speaker showoffs, but that is about it. I hate Itunes. I will try the amazon next time I can't limewire something.
                                Be excellent to one another.
