    Uploading video from mac?

How do I post a quicktime video from my mac onto a thread? I tried the photobucket but the quality was so bad you could barley see anything.
How can I be racist when all of my assault rifles are black?

Post it to you tube and then link.

Mac or PC you have to have it hosted somewhere else, own server or YouTube will work.
      I use http://www.motionbox.com/

If you don't use one of the popular video hosting sites, you'd have to upload it to a host server of your own, then write some HTML using the <embed> tag....pretty much a PITA. Or, post a link and have the user download the video to their own computer to watch it. Slow, but it works.

As a programmer, I have all of my own servers and all of that stuff, but NOTHING compares to the ease of use of MobileMe. Just sign up and then you can share from quicktime or imovie in one click, done deal. Thats how all of the movies were shared in my gallery. One click.

When you guys upload to the sites and share/link here, does it take the person clicking to watch, to your account like Photobucket does?

Ok, I signed up for Motionbox, uploaded a video. Now, how do I use the QT tags to post it here? I tried to copy/past the code into the QT tags and it didnt work

I've never been able to ever work the youtube embed correctly. I know you are able to do that. I think it has something to do with posting the numbers after the = sign or something. I just copy the link and make everybody click through.

There is a "Embed" tab underneath the video. Maybe you can make that work somehow.

I'll have to ask my son later tonight and see if he has any suggestions.

youtube, motionbox, and most other video sharing sites are not using quicktime. They are using FLASH video, FLV. You can see that in your embed code:

                      type="application/x-shockwave-flash"

To embed a quicktime movie, like I have done in other pages, you first need to export a quicktime movie for the web, put on a server, then get the link to it. When you upload to motionbox, it is just like youtube, they CONVERT the video to flash, then share.

The easiest way to do what I do is with MobileMe, and iDisk. You can also use Export For Web from quicktime, but you have to then upload direct to a service that does NOT convert to flash or another medium to use the QT tags. Using the QT tags is nice, because it is never converted by someone else, and you control the quality, however, some people don't have QT, and most have flash capabilities.

It sounds like it is more of something for Matt the Admin.

This site must not allow html tags except for the Youtube and Quicktime specific that TO provides. I just copy the address at the top of the page and put it in as a link. One extra step for everyone, but it works. At least Motionbox has an HD viewing option.

I'll keep messing with it though.

You can't embed video here, unless Matt programs the ability to, like it has been done for YouTube or Quicktime. This is to prevent users from inserting malicious code into the forum.
