    Difficult cold start

OK, I have been having a tough time starting my 2007 20V 5.7 Indmar engine (Serial # 45448) when cold. After multiple attempts, and almost dead battery, it will finally start and run perfectly. For the rest of the day it fires up pretty easily. This makes me think it's a fuel issue. This continues to happen after multiple tanks of gas from different stations. I have used stabil in previous winterizations. I have checked the anti siphon valve, I replaced the low pressure fuel pump. Pressure reads 50-55 at the rails while pumps are priming and the engine is running. Could this be bad injectors? Because it starts up easily once I finally get it started, I assume it's not a spark issue; am I wrong about that? It's frustrating because I am so used to the wonderful sound of a rapid start.

Unfortunately, I live in the Sacramento, CA area and our Tige dealer went out of business years ago

    Thanks for any help, Phil

Indmar in a 2007? Hmmm. Anyway, you dont have to take it to a Tige dealer, just someone who you trust to work on marine engines or an Indmar mechanic if there isnt one near. Just a thought.

If you truly have an Indmar engine, then seek out an Malibu dealer. But By 07, Tige was using MP exclusively, IIRC. Sounds like an empty fuel rail after an extended time sitting.

Thanks for the reply. Follow up question, when I turn the ignition switch to the on position and the fuel pumps turn on, as I mentioned the pressure gauge reads 55. When the pumps have stopped priming, the pressure goes down to almost zero until I turn the key to start the motor; it then goes back to 55. should the pressure be dropping after priming and before engaging the starter motor? It is a 5.7L MP engine.

There is a check valve on the fuel rail somewhere if I remember right. I had it go out on my old 20v. Mine would run rough for a minute or so then run fine. Not exactly what you are describing but similar. You may check that.

I will look for it thank you. Do you remember if it was by the regulator?
