Here are some pics of what I did to reinforce. Any comments would be great. I am hoping that I am safe for a little while. The tubing is very tight, it was hard to get passed the weld in some spots. I have thought about putting a band around the open end yet. This would help make it stronger. Forgot about it until I looked at these pics.

Thanks for posting the pics Dale, for some reason I have a different Metcraft tower than you. Same year and model boat though. I dont have any bolts on the top of the tower. It's all solid across with factory welds.Attached Files"I feel sorry for people that don't drink, when they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're gonna feel all day" - Frank Sinatra

I really love the way you boat came out. You did a fantastic job on it. WOW! I really looks great.
Where do you take your boat out? I used to live in St. Pete before I got transferred up to NC about 15 years ago. Still have family down there.Last edited by TRD; 06-29-2008, 12:22 AM.Dale

I have seen different metcraft tower break ontop. I do have some old posts save if you want me to post the links.

The tower was a crap design, period. I had my crack at the h-bar and actually had one of the bolts snap that held the lower leg to the deck.
With that said, I would not jump all over Metcraft on this one. They have been building the Malibu towers for years and I have yet to hear someone complain. The Tige towers sucked due to design. It was designed for easy folding, and from what I understand Tige deisgned it and Metcraft built it (if am incorrect, at a minimum Tige approved it). Tige should step up and develop a fix to offer, but they have moved on. At one time, they were small enough to care about all customers and tried to make them happy. In the last year or two I do not get that vibe anymore, but that could just be me.
My solution was I found a 20o5 Tige tower for sale and had it put on. It is not a perfect fit, but looks and performs 1000% better than the Metcraft. That said, I would put the new Metcraft tower on my boat in a heartbeat if I could.

its on...man, those seat backs were a nightmare to take off. And the old tower mounts were not nice either. the new tower is really nice, very stable and solid...very impressed. wish my fusion speakers, fusion lights, and fusion wakeboard and surfboard racks fit. the mounts are way too small, and it looks like they are going to be $80 per mount? ouch. i might just sell everything and buy some new speakers. Overall i am very happy with the whole experiance. nice job monster towers!
