Wanted Tandem Axle Trailer for 1999 Tige 2100V Riders Edition

    Hi All,

My original Dorsey Tandem Axle Trailer is completely rusted out. On it's last leg. Got quotes from boatmate and magic tilt for like 6k+ for a new one. Has anybody had a custom galvanized trailer built or know of any good custom trailer manufactures out there that can build one at a more reasonable price? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, John

6k is about right for a dual axle trailer.

Thanks for the reply. Don’t quite have 6k to spend on a new trailer right now. I think I’m going to attempt to repurpose a used 21-24 ft galvanized trailer originally meant for another kind of boat. I’m seeing excellent condition trailers like this for around 1000 bucks on Craigslist and such. I just need to make sure i modify the bunks to be the same and in the same positions as my old trailer and get a welder to cut it in the back to make the prop guard. If anybody has attempted this or has any experience or advice, plz shoot it my way. Thanks!

        FYI,

I had Magnum quote me a trailer in Austin for a 22ve. Would probably be about the same size for you. It’s painted steel with brakes and all that. With the obvious upgrades, tax, etc it was about 5300 dollars. (Guide posts, aluminum wheels, foldable tounge)

Refurbishing a thousand dollar trailer sounds like a good project to me, assuming the brakes and all that work. Good luck man.

as much as a dyi guy I like to think I am, refurbing a trailer to hold a different boat would be quite the project. there's a lot of engineering that go into these from axle placement for tongue weight to type and quality of welds to support the weight of a boat.

          is it do-able? absolutely.
would it be the safest trailer to roll down the highway? maybe.

that said would love to see pics of the refurb and how it turns out. good luck.
