Anyone experienced an Underwater Drain Plug Light ?

    Hi !

Has anybody experienced this type of underwater light bolted in the drain plug :

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Exce...455079202.html

I'm thinking of this product for my 2010 Z1 but I'm wondering if it will fit because of the taps plate which is quite close.

    Thanks & regards

Right off the bat, im suspicious due to their demo pics. They show a yacht with lights all the way around and a cruiser with 6 lights across the transom. They are advertising drain plugs lights..............ive never seen a boat with that many drain plugs on it. Id bet those pics were grabbed off the web and are of some other manufacturer's lights

Next, we have seen many fitment issue with drain plugs lights on boats with wedges and center mounted adjustable wake plates.

further, if you trailer your boat, move along to a transom mounted light. These lights fail after a couple seasons or less, of removing and reinstalling the lights in order to drain the bilge.

Sorry, but im not putting anything made from Titanic metal in my boat's drain plug

35 feedbacks but you can only see the 16 that are 5 out of 5 stars????????????

Lumens are useless, need to see current draw.

In closing, I always hate to see a manufacturer direct sale with the MSRP crossed out and a "sale price listed. In reality, that MSRP is likely inflated in order to create a perception of a good deal

I put a drainplug light in my 98 2200v. Not that one though. Overall I loved it. It wasn't a flying saucer or anything but it did the job of creating cool lighting while stopped. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I wish I could think of a company that didn't do his, especially in the boating world. Just put a fair price on your product and sell it for that.

It seems that these lights would have issues with the wiring after being twisted from the plug being installed and removed over and over. Am I missing something?

Ahhhh, not sure how I missed that
My old boat had a metal cable attaching the plug to the end of the oil drain line. Needless to say it didn't last more
than a couple seasons for that exact reason. Can't imagine an electrical cord would last long at all.

Diablo makes a few where you don't have to screw them out everytime.

You wire it up, and then the boat plug screw into the assembly.

                  ^^^

Another thought on that rig on a boat with no center plate. Think about the load placed on the garboard with that extended past the hull with water flowing across it. Would not take much to break the brass (yes, brass, not bronze as they should be) stalk or rip the garboard out.

Welcome to the forum. Tell us more about your boat that this light is on. Whats the clarity of the water you boat in. What do you recommend this light over others based on your experience?

It’d be nice if Tige’ mounted a center plug but they don’t. All the Tige’ models I’ve seen hold the water in the bilge towards the middle and unless you’re on a steep incline it’s problematic getting it to drain.
