Trade a new Acme 537 (plus cash) for a 1617, 1235, 1433

Probably a long shot but thought i'd give it a try. I'd like to swap my spare Acme 537 for something a little more aggressive. The prop is brand new and was removed from the boat and replaced with a 1235 before it left the dealer. I'd like to try a 1617, a 1433 or even another 1235. I'd be willing to throw in a little cash to make a deal work.

Well i do currently have a 1235 on the boat but it could use a little attention. It has a few nicks on the blades and i think it may be slightly out of balance. Just thought if i can find something else i'd use the old 1235 as a backup instead of spending the $265 the local shop wants to fix it up. I'd really like to give a 1617 a try. Supposed to be a step above the 1235 for a loaded up boat.

IMO, the the 1617 is more aggressive then the 1433 due to its .5" less pitch with both being 14" dia. This is going to = better hole shot, but higher RPMs and reduced top speed. The 1617 is also a .5" less pitch then the 1235, but at the same time, .5" less diameter. That 1235 going to turn less RPM, yet yield better holding due to that extra surface area. Without taking engine and elevation into account, I dont I would paint the 1617 as better prop to the 1235.

So between the 1433 and the 1617 you would recommend the 1617? I am about to get a new proo in a week or so and was always thinking the 1433 is my best bet for a z1 with trailer clearance issues. But if you think the 1617 is a better prop to go with maybe I'll reconsider. Sorry to thread jack, figured since it was brought up I might as well ask rather then start a new post.

I do not think the 1716 is a better prop, but certainly more aggressive due to its leas pitch. At the same time, im not saying dont go with it.

I had been told by Acme that the 1433 and the 1235 are almost identical in performance on most boats, but the 1617 would give a little more holeshot with lots of ballast, at the cost of a little top speed. I rarely drive my boat over 30mph anyway so, I thought a 1617 might be a good one to try. Also, since my boat only has the 340hp engine I could use the extra torque when we really load up the boat.
