    In Market for 07,08, or 09 22ve

    Hello,

I'm hoping to find and purchase a 22ve within the next month or two. I'm looking for a 2007, 2008 or 2009. Please let me know if you have, or know of, a well maintained 22ve for sale.

    Thanks!

Love wakeboarding, but I’m 40 with a blown ACL, so wakesurfing will be the primary activity. Can’t wait to get my 2 and 4 year olds into water sports. If it doesn’t have it already, I’ll be adding custom ballast for a wakesurf set up. If it’s a 2007 or 2008, no factory ballast would be good as based on my research it looks like I’d be ripping it out anyway. Prefer to have collapsible tower with racks and good sound system. Cruise. Honestly, I’m not opposed to adding mods as necessary, so I’m willing to consider any set up if it’s been well maintained and the price is right. I’d like to stay $40k or below, but there’s room to move higher if necessary (haven’t found many 09’s, so unsure of the going price). I live in Alexandria, VA, but the boat’s home will be at Lake Gaston in North Carolina. I’m willing to travel and have shipped if necessary.
              Thanks!

Lived in Atlanta before moving to Virginia...spent many summers on Lake Lanier! Thanks! I've learned a lot from your posts on weighting a 22ve...I'll be calling you when I finally get one.

Lake gaston is a cool spot. Here's a few around charlotte that I found (searchtempest.com is solid fyi). Good luck.

Thanks WHammond! I've been hitting Searchtempest hard trying to find boats...that and boattrader and onlyinboards. I found the 2007 on boattrader and dismissed it because the ad had it listed with the 315 hp motor, but the craigslist add mentions 340hp. The boattrader ad also had a bunch of pics and from what I can tell the vinyl looks to be in bad shape with a bunch of cracks and tears...always makes me concerned about how the rest of the boat was maintained. I reached out to the guys selling the 08 - said it was a "7 out of 10." Trying to get better pictures to see if a drive there would be worthwhile.

                        Thanks!

I doubt an 07 would not have anything smaller than a 340 and the 315 was a Merc, which was dropped a few years earlier.

I would submit that pre-existing ballast is not entirely a bad thing, as the wiring and switch panel can be reused easily for an improved aerator pump setup. In fact in my system I have also re-used the red Johnson pumps to add to my system to improve speed (paired with Tsunamis). Really very easy to set up with the wires already there.

Yes the tanks were a bearcat to remove, but it was mostly spent in sweat. I had them all out in an hour or so.

Just my $.02. Great luck finding a boat! I personally bought an 06 because I did not know better, but the TBW woes are about to be solved with a throttle and control lever re-engineering. When done, I will have a brand new Hydrophase Ridesteady paired to the MP engine. Bye bye Speedset. It can be done.

I'm glad mine had the factory ballast, I kept the hard tanks and added more pumps for my MLA sac. Just make sure you cross drain and vent. The 22ve makes an unbelievable wave!
