    Potential

    Hey guys.

Was starting to look into finally getting back into boating.

I grew up on the water in Lake Havasu and the Colorado river.

We have debated on just jumping in and buying a new boat or buying an older boat first with the potential to upgrade later. What do you guys think?

I don't have a lot of time off to take on a fixer upper but am mechanically inclined to do little things.

What would be a good boat to get either new like the z1 I posted about or used( 25-30k used budget).

    Thanks for your help guys

Where are you located? Used boats are always a good price point option, but if you can swing a new one some of the advances/changes are worth it!

If you are Navy (as most are in Norfolk), there are a few facilities (places to stay) you can take advantage of on the Colorado river not available to others. If you decide to get a boat and end up in San Diego, send me a private message... I can point you in the right direction.

Thanks that's awesome. I am in the navy. And I am trying to go to San Diego next. But I'm not holding my breath, I've been trying to get there for the last 12 years.

Might be older than you were looking for but similar dimensions as a Z1 (slightly longer). I really love my 24V! At Polar Bear, Dave's old 22V everyone loved riding.

Looks pretty clean and well taken care of. I haven't met the owner or seen it in person. There isn't much you can do on a new Z1 that can't be done on the old 22V. The biggest benefit is that V-drive's don't seem to depreciate that much on a $ basis after it hits that 10 year mark. It seems like condition take precedent on older boats.

Brand new boats have problems too so if you are buying brand new, the main benefit is warranty. If you end up having to move, there are stories of dealers not treating those that transfer in as well as those that buy boats from them as well.

I have 2004 24with a 6 liter that I will be selling soon. It should be right in line with your budget.

When are you looking to sell it. I'm not quite ready to pull the trigger on buying one yet. So shortly in the future would be good.
