Here are a couple of newer ones, they are also more than what you are wanting to pay. They at least give you an idea.

In doing a search that should have included all of craiglist there were not many options and these were the cheapest.

thanks for searching. Actually the guy from tuscon was ready to sell me that one for 17 last week, but it doesnt have the pylon. I was ready to put one in, but I talked to Tige, and they said it entailed removing the floor to mount brackets to the stringers. Hes got a really nice boat otherwise. Total bummer.

I've had mine, although the previous iteration, through a course. They are huge in that arena. If your looking for a slalom machine, the 22i probably ain't what you're lookin for. It was designed as a direct drive wakeboard boat. The wake is far from tournament quality. It's huge if you regularly ski behind true tournament boats. If you are just out cruising on your ski, its OK.
Have guys sat in one or is it just that you like the idea of the layout? You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I've never been in a tristar. Was that the more family oriented one with no tracking fins? No wait, that was the Maristar. It was just an openbow prostar right? I once demo'd a TS6M with my uncle and though it had a really nice ride for a slalom boat. I was still a kid back then and wakeboarding was dominated by guys like Tony Finn. Pretty much everyone still skied and a 21' boat was HUGE.
Fast forward 6 or so years and I see my first Tige, a 2000 fslm (not sure what year but, early Tige.) I knew I wanted one. Then boats just kept getting bigger and bigger and I started wakeboarding and soon there was a 22' D-drive. This to me was the holy grail. I could finally have it all, slalom boat performance and wakeboard wakes. I was right. Exactly right and that was it. There were no true slalom wakes with this 3700# (dry) beast. Running a course behind one is manly. That is, if you can manage to stuff it between the guide bouys. Unless you have your own course, plan on replacing bouys by the run. I don't do it anymore out of respect for the course owner.
The "new" 22i. When they first came out, I thought, "Wow, what a cool layout!" When I finally got in one I thought, "Wow, this isn't as cool as I thought it would be." I just felt like all the seats in the back were really small.
Now I just surf and wish I would have gotten a V-drive.You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I have a 21i and I have been on this boat since it was new. One of my best friends owned it before I got it. We all were coarse skiers. I have been behind a 86 model supra, ski wake was awesome in that boat but my boat w/ the 4 blade prop that I have had a great skiing wake also. W/ that prop the wake will flaten out and roll over the top edge. The only issue I had was it wasn't fast enough for the advanced barefooter. I could only get up to 42mph w/ him behind the boat. When he would do tricks it pulled so hard the boat slowed down and he liked running 45mph. Overall it is an awesome boat. I am told old to ski like that anymore and changed the prop for wakeboarding and surfing now. I really don't think it is a downgrade, this boat is very tough and I have over 600 hours and still runs great. Good luck.Dale

Thanks for all the advice gentlemen. This is a tough call cause naturally I want to do it all, slalom and surf, and the wife wants it to double as a pseudo pontoon. I really just need to add a few sections to the dock and get a fleet.
Any of you live in Mich, and would be willing to take me for a rip? I'd really like to demo one of these.
That said, keep your eyes peeled. I'll send a sixer of belgian ale to the one who spots the unicorn for me.
